I have just bought an RGA jota (thanks scrumpy) that I am going to paint ,stripping it down today one of the sidepanels had a couple of cracks on investigation it has between 12 to 15 coats of paint hence the cracks , does anyone have any suggestions as to the best the best way to remove the paint other than spending hours rubbing them down and that wont affect the panels
thanks

I dislike composite friendly paint strippers esp on hard to replace panels, at work we use a soft blast media like walnut shell. With carefully control air pressure it will strip the paint a layer at a time. Mechanical sanding is time consuming but at least it's safe and hard to fuck up......too badly. :o                  Tim

Took all my painted bits to a specialist guy who does chemical cleaning, paint stripping, anodising, cad plating etc.

Whacked it all in a tank of chemicals and all came out clean as new. a week later. Don't know what he uses but it worked and I didn't have to do anything (except pay).
