Well that's odd.  I had a few problems with the old heap being difficult to start over the weekend, which seemed to be kill switch related.

First, the bike would turn over with the kill switch off.  Cleaned up the switch and it's back to the way it should be- ie the kill switch shuts off the ignition AND the starter motor switch.

OK, all good, but still no spark.  Waggle key in ignition switch and lo, there is light.  Well, little blue sparks anyway.

'Kin 'ell, what are the chances?  Anyway, as the ignition switch is very old I thought I'd get a new one- is this the correct item? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUZUKI-GT250-GT-250-IGNITION-SWITCH-/180786126753?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item2a17b15fa1

Ta.

BTDT Reggie - a gentle bit of soldering on the terminals on the back of the switch saw a useful temporary(ish) repair until I bought a new switch  ;)
I think you've got the right one, but without taking mine to bits (which you could do with yours!) I'm not certain. No doubt the knowledgeable ones will be along shortly to confirm.

ATB,
Alan :)

Yeah, I think I got the right one- has the cut out at the side.  Should be back in business soon.

The Lucas Ignition Switch on my SF was truly a Prince of Darkness and cut out at the most impossible times. After 40 years of rebuilding it, I replaced it with a heavy duty Toggle Switch.
