TCIP4 related?

I have connected a pushbutton switch to TCIP4, so it blocks ignition when the side stand is in down position. The circuit is simple. On end to input1, pin-8 and the other to grd, pin-14. When the circuit is grounded, ignition works, when open ignition is blocked.

I want to add an additional circuit for neutral switch. I tried to connect the neutral switch directly to input1. This way the ignition is only blocked if both circuits are open. In practice, when on neutral, side stand may be in down position and ignition is on. When the gear is on, lowering side stand will block ignition. Ok, works as intended.

But there's one ?huge? problem. Now the neutral light is on all the time. It gets grounded trough the side stand circuit, I guess. How should the neutral switch be connected???

I seem to recall I blew a diode on My early FZR1000 and had this problem.. So perhaps you need to use a diode to seperate the two  out.

Yes you'll need a diode, if you draw up what you've done I can draw in where the diode goes.

BTW the sidestand switch on the beemer is the first thing people disconnect!

after nearly ending up in my neighbours garden on Saturday morning I was thinking of putting one on my 750, so used to having it on my modern bikes  :(

I tried with one diode (diode1), didn't help no matter which way it was connected. So I'm adding a second diode to side stand circuit. Maybe that will help. Aargh...electrics!

There's actually 2 switching inputs according to the ignitech weebsite. You can program what they do. How is the kill switch wired in?

The second diode did the trick. Now everything is working properly. If nothing else, at least I have two more circuits to keep in good working order.  :D

Well done, its good to bear in mind your solution.
I couldn't explain it but it's something that sticks in your head for 20 years... Diodes that is !

The most common function of a diode is to allow an electric current to pass in one direction (called the diode's forward direction), while blocking current in the opposite direction (the reverse direction)

According to Ignitech, the wiring does not need diodes.

Quote: ?It is very simple. No diode is needed.
Connect side stand switch to pin 8.
Connect neutral switch and neutral light (both) to pin 19.
Set on function "Inputs for neutral and side stand".?

Haven't tested this one, but it might be the easiest way...
