VIN / ID plate dimensions

Hi authenticity freaks:

I recently recognized (due to a third drill hole) that my 1974 Laverda 1000 doesn't has its original ID plate on the steering head anymore. Does anybody has a picture and the dimensions of the plates used in 1974 and maybe knows where to get one nowadays?

Many thanks for your interest in that small issue
Dominik

Where in the world are you?
Not every country required fitment of VIN plates to the steering head, especially in 1974.

I'm guessing you're in the USA?

I have 80mm x 43mm installed..as the plate is rolled onto the head-stock curve..the actual width is probably more like 45mm

Thanks for the previous statements. I have measured centre-to-centre spacing of the drill wholes which I thought could be the original and it is 93mm. This would mean that the VIN/ID plate would have had a height of 100mm. I would be interested to know if anyboday has a similar size.

Make sure you use the correct thickness plate and the correct font.

Rob, you're right, Cam's link to the VIN plate shop offers nothing from Laverda but might be a good address to get your existing plates engraved.

I am aware that VIN plates are not the sexiest Laverda topic but I would like the Laverda community to participate more in a theme that is made the first time subject of discussion.

So come on to the keys
Dominik
