1977 CFO . Figure it will be awhile before I add another Laverda to the garage.

I was cleaning out the various boxes of parts and found this

Is this how the 7/C was marked?  (hard to see under the A/11) seems odd but figured I would ask here.

Thanks in advance.
Dave

Looks like a standard A11 cam that has been modified to 7C profile and hand engraved.
Only way to be sure is to measure and compare lobe profiles.
Also, guess cam sprockets would have extra mounting holes.

I have a set of 7/C cams marked in a similar manner.  Made for a 120? engine, probably Jota 120, as the tach drive is in the usual 180? position.  It's only us poor sods with limited access to parts that have to resort to multiple drillings of the sprockets, the factory always used dedicated and thus marked sprockets...

The 7C cams I had for my 180 were stamped, not engraved. My advice to anyone wanting 7C cams is ..... Don't!

I've never been one to be shy to rev out a bike, but that's all they are good for.
Anything below 6500rpm and you may as well ride a Royal Enfield, conservatively, you'll get the adrenaline pumping at the same rate. Nadah.

Sorry, if I fucked up a future sale for them Dave.
Use them for a letterbox post, at least they'll be useful for something.

I heard of one guy who swears by a 7C inlet cam and an A11 exhaust cam. Said it goes really well.

Funny thing that for a 120 P1 inlet and F1 exhaust is a very good combination.

Thanks Guys:
I was wondering if all 7/C cams were re-grinds and not stamped.
here is one of the lobes.

7/C's were an option cam, not a regrind, used mainly for the track. I had a set in a Fomula Mirage but changed them out for a pair of 4/C's. As already said, they require high revs to get the most out of the engine. Personally I wouldn't use them on a road bike.

Cheers,

Ian

Watch they haven't ground down the base circle in order to increase the height of the lobes. This could give valve shim issues if they have taken too much off.
It's an old trick to save welding loads on to the tips and regrinding them.

I don't know which combination he is running, but a friend of mine had a 3CL with something around 1200ccm, Mikuni carbs and definitely a 7/C Inlet cam (not sure about exhaust, he tried almost any combination possible...). Bike was very fast and pulled like a train...

I started my tuning also with a 4/C inlet/ A11 exhaust cam. worked nicely...

This was one of the cams in the Jota when I purchased it. It was mated with a 4/C exhaust. I have no idea how it ran as the bike did not run when i got it
I never tried the 7/C.
