What is this electronic item? Bosch product?

I don't see it on the wiring diagram.

What's the proper way to mount it on a 1974 3C?

Thanks in advance...

It's the kill relay from a CDI triple.
It appears in the appropriate wiring diagram for that model.

Didn't the 74 triple have a different type of stop relay?

Yep..an old fashioned Bosch relay. I heard the early 3c had no relay..I read that the bikes were easy to steal. They could be bump started with no key. Don't know if that is true or not.

My 74 3c had a Bosch relay energized by the ignition key, grounding the circuit to allow the CDI to fire. The DMC made this unnecessary.

Hi - Don't fit the "torpedo" type - it was introduced as the US market insisted that a cut out must completely cut all power to or from an item - they can be very unreliable -The earlier relay (much more reliable) just makes and breaks the red charging wire from the pulse coil. If you have the later BTZ ignition you will not need either of  these items. The mechanical relay can be bought from any decent car spares outlet for not much money - regards - Phil

If you remove the kill relay you can't stop the motor unless you stall it.
That's risky if you fall off and it's revving it's guts out on it's side.
Not sure if it also means it can be easily started though.

i do remember reading back in th early 70s that the triples could be bump started with the ignition off. My '73 3c had a replacement Honda ignition switch, and no stop relay. It just occurred to me that this was probably an anti-theft mod by the DPO (he was mechanic who worked for the Sydney Laverda dealer).
