Hi Guys
My indicator switch is destroying itself its the metal cage around the moving contacts inside so I was thinking of trying to find a repacement switchgear.
Its the nippondenso later type switchgear, I vaguely seem to remember it maybe being used by Suzuki GS750 or was that GT anyway could someone point me in the right direction and I'll try and find a repacement at one of the parts jumbles this winter.

Hi - Suzuki GT items will work . Look for ones from GT 380 /550 /750.  These are often available new although frequently described as last of old stock there seems to be quite a lot about.

Ally is quite right about the Suzuki GT series switches. I have replaced both of mine with used eBay switches. But they're not quite exactly the same; as far as I know the Suzukis never had the headlight low/high/flash function, just low/high. Not a major problem if you don't use the flash feature anyway. You could always buy a new switch to get the indicator function and graft the old top to the new bottom if you were really obsessive.
Also be a bit careful, the 380 switches were usually different from the 750 (Laverda clone) switches. I can't comment about the 550s, some look similar, some different. And the twistgrip for the GT750s has 2 holes for throttle cables (push/pull, not paired) unless you get 1972/very early 1973. You can plug the second hole, though, or use it to hang Mikuni carburetors off.

Just to echo Ken's point about the headlamp flash button - pretty sure my late GT550A UK spec model has a flash button. So look for GT550 /750 A & B model parts for the LH switch. If I remember in the morning I'll look through my Suzuki GT550A parts book and dig out a number for you. Too lazy to pop to the garage at the mo' as its raining heavily and the Aussie Shiraz is going down well  :)

Of course if you're not bothered about originality you could just fit more modern switchgear- push to cancel indicators an' all.

Think the switches off the Suzy GS850 are identical. Not sure which model (there were so many  ::) )  However, they are getting very scarce now. There is a similar one of another Suzuki which is pretty much the same...but plastic vs alloy. Got a new one hanging around somewhere (put it somewhere "safe" aka a stupid place  :D )

Try Googling the following numbers, which are Suzuki part numbers, to see if this is what you are looking for.  you may find out about availability at the same time by doing this....

57700-31015 for LH assembly - the one I got from Robinson's a few weeks ago had a Pass button

57100-31013 for RH assembly - got this from Marcel at Classic Suzuki Parts NL.

Check to see what is included with RH and whether you want two cable or one.

Certainly not cheap if you are buying them new... but how long will stock continue to be available?  Are they still making it?

Try emailing:

Michelle Robinson [Michelle@robinsonsfoundry.co.uk]
info@knalnaarpotz.nl
Classic Suzuki Parts NL [suzukitandgtparts@planet.nl]

There were plenty more avenues to try, but I was happy withthe service I got by trying these folk.

Hi Guys
That gives me a few to look for.
I'd like to keep it as oridginal as possible but I'm not going to pay silly prices :eg lav footrest rubbers ?50 with post brit ones that look practically identical ?7 from a jumble.

how much of a hurry are you?I'm changing the one on my suzi gs750 in a week or so for a new one.my old one is fine electrically but has been painted gloss black and needs stripping and repainting or swap the guts over to yours.you are welcome to it if you get stuck

Keith,
I think Rick might mean these ?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LAVERDA-700-1000-JOTA-BREGANZE-MODELS-FOOTREST-RUBBERS-/370431942744?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item563f76e058

Ah, well I suppose it is good to know that they are not dangerous and far eastern, that explains the price premium.  8)

    Keith.

Those ones look cheap I'm sure I saw some for just short of ?50.on ebay or maybe I'm confusing them with the ?50 isolator rubbers......or was that clock rubbers ......
Some spectacular prices for tank badges too.

I'm in no hurry, the wiring from my left hand switchgear is a bit dodgy too ,a short having been repaired and now inexplicably my high beam warning light comes on at low beam despite my efforts to correct it it doesn't help being colour blind.
All of this has prompted me to start looking for a new old stock one if I can find one.Just one of those winter must fix things. Many thanks for the offer Neale

Rick,
Finally made it to the garage. Here is a pic of a new LH switch as described by a number of posters.

that is indeed a gt750 switch,i dont know which laverdas use that one,but the 1978 jota and 1981 rgs use the gs750 switch which has the pass function in with the dip/high beam sliding switch as opposed to the button push, though possibly laverda used what they had or could get at the time
