for fucks sake, its a pissy little dent, give it to the guy to "roll" it and itll cost you 60 quid, or  send it to Keith and he'll belt it for 60 quid, that little dent is nothing to some of the shit ive had "fixed", no one i know in Australia will weld motorcycle wheels, theres only a select few that will even straighten them, easy fix, go polish a few more chairs Pete  ;)

Cosi, going to have it rolled (or whatever they do).  You are right, I should stick to furniture  :D

Pat, that's a bummer. took me a while to see it. Defo a crack and probably not the best place  :(

Has me wondering where the best place for a crack is.

Are you sure the crack runs through he metal?
I am a bit of a cynic but if there is a crack in the metal it is trying to tell you something:

Poor casting technique? inconsistant grain structure of metal? brittle (supposed to be soft though)? Induced stress?
You need to know what caused it to deal with it.

The wheel had a whack directly under the spoke, un amigo knocked it straight for me with a brass drift. It was only later I noticed a crack in the paint so I sanded it off and all? was revealed.

Hmm, induced stress then.

Sorry to be the harbinger of doom, I think I can see stress lines further away from the crack - maybe emery cloth scratch marks?
It is up to your judgement to decide if you will use the wheel again. I would get a dye-penetrant crack test done as a minimum.

Yes Simon, you couldn't trust to luck with this one but they are getting scarce so I'll hang on to it I think.
Thanks for your reply.
