Hi All - Just found a couple of shots of the last batch of used Laverdas I imported from Italy - this was in early 1990. They all found their way onto UK roads, but the 600 twin (with fairing) is now in France - belongs to Paul Marx. The lighter coloured GTL was brand new when I bought it - it was standing in a shed as a pattern for some silencers - I just missed the brand new 750SFC! The blue GTL and the black/White Lesmo were used in the "Ainscoe" book. I think maybe one Lesmo was used as spares only, but maybe it was put on the road.
Hope this is of interest - regards - Phil

Hi Phil

Out of historical curiosity, did any of these machines come via a bloke called Johnny Matthews (Moto Stile near Asti?)  - I bought an early 3C from him in the early 90's and rode it back to the UK. I believe he knew you well and posted some parts to Croydon which I eventually came and picked up from you. I wonder what Johnny is up to these days? He had a phenomenal collection of bikes and a very large farmhouse in the country to hold them all as I recall.

Cheers

Hi Scrumpy - It was a triple (the only one there) with a Motoplas or lookalike body kit.-  Gingergeezer - the photo' was taken at Jonny's old place -he sourced some and me others - he went onto sell loads of "grey" import Ducatis into Germany. I did bring in a load myself via Jonny for the dealers who were a bit annoyed with the official importer at the time - caused a few upsets! Haven't been in contact with him for a couple of years - Regards - Phil

Hi Tim - These were about the last lot I could get at a realistic price - unfortunately the Germans and Dutch almost always paid what the Italians would ask - us Brits would haggle like crazy - which the Italians would expect - They ended up saying "We like you Phil, but  the others will pay the price I ask". I can't say what I paid - but i made a penny or two on the deal.- Regards - Phil
