Pity he wasted all that time, skill and effort on an air compressor ;)
 
I once saw a v8 engine with a blower that size. I don't recall who was building them. I do recall that he would build you a copy for about $15K.
 
use to dable a bit with model engineering  saw an article once  were a guy had made a Deltic engine this was to scale and  a work of art then fitted into a working scale model of the loco , the cams were awesome took him three attempts to get them right
 
I am always in awe of those who can do in miniature what I can't even achieve in full size....

There is a guy here in the UK called Alan Millyard who has built quite a number of multi cylinder machines that the manufacturers never quite got round to e.g a five cylinder two stroke Kwak and others including a V8 based on the Z1.  An example of his work - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djJTQh_RMVQ&feature=related
