As my Hawker PC680 is now dead after roughly 8 years of abuse (no charging over winter, only ever charged it when I knew I wanted to ride the bike the next days etc.), I am considering a LiFePo4 battery from Landport (have a AGM from them in my Jota and that works since 10 years faultlessly, which I can not say about the previously used Hawker on that bike nor any other Gel/AGM battery I used...).

anyone any experiences? am considering the ML LFP14, which has 48Wh/4Ah, which is considered "sufficient".

It is less so much the weight reduction I am considering it for than the improved starting power... Cost is no issue, if it lasts 10 years, too, it is 12?/year...

I don't know about that precise make of battery but I have used Lithium batteries in 2 bikes, an SFC 750 clone and a high comp 1200.
Starting is effortless battery life is long. It even has a series of 3 charge indication lights built in.
Pus it weight next to nothing and can be mounted in any position.
Don't worry too much about the number of amps and CCA as Lithium batteries work differently.

Hi Grant,

thanks for the advise. What brand did you use? Any specialities regarding the regulator/rectifier voltage I should look for? Special "service" needed or just "build in and forget"?

thanks a lot

Next time I have the tailpiece off the bike I will have a look.
Some generic brand rom a Suzuki dealer here.
You will not have heard of it and will likely not be able to source the same one in Germany.

Fit a Shindengen r/r.

The one in the SFC clone has been installed for most of this year and although not raced so far this year (due to injury racing) the bike still fires up when required, so shelf life seems good without needing a top up charge.

I have the same Lithium battery in my Motodd 1200 hc Grant its great!! ;)
