£86.00 for my loom from Richard,,not fitted, but then I was his first trail run.His work is excellent, but then I guess you paid for him to do it,Ferrets charges are pretty high too Pat.

I paid £140 for my 3C loom from Richard Prowse. I'm in the process of mounting it on the bike. Very nicely done but very simple .

A 3CL is a 1000 triple with cast wheels. 1973 is a 3C.

I'm not the brightest button in the box, when folk want their piano rebuilt they come to me..when I want my bike
re-wired I find an expert...I'd love to have the time...nd if I did I'd rather be riding..some chappie/firm with a loooong italian
name offered to re-wire her for me for about 3k...lol...just keep charging the battery...£800...s'done properly and I have some
confidence' in a bit of uk workmanship. After 38 years of being together and getting to know most if not all of our uk specialist mech's and suppliers my confidence levels were/still are, at 0. This job was done only two years ago and nothings caught fire yet... and I can, if I choose,
ride her with the lights on....unheard of...lol..fed up about the wheel wobble tho. Tisn't much, can ride thru it no prob...just a ding the size of a peanut. At least with the help of a proper wheel balancer mate, we spotted it.....it is very very tiny...and only wobbles at 40mph with hands off the bars and disappears at around 42
Mine was rgstrd 1974. spoke wheels, twin discs..bought her in 1993 and I thought..don't know why...she was a 3cl...anyway...she's crackin on a bit..lol.
What does the 'l' stand for in 3cl ?

The guy must have put an uprated alternator and ignition on the bike for you then, in which case £800 isn't bad.

When you have someone to do the work you expect a high cost, even KN with his low rates will be a lot,Ferret the UK mobile wiring guy I have heard of costs around £900plus.I would not bother with upgraded ignitions or Mikunis myself when I can run a bike with no worries without and I"d never get my dosh back.Just my point of view.

Well the early alternators can be a major problem Shaun especially if you ride with the headlight on so I think it is a worthwhile upgrade, having said that at least you can always get the early bikes running with a push start if the battery is flat. I suppose some sort of LED daytime light would help too these days. The 3CL I'm building isn't getting any upgrades.

I just made some decent dosh on my dismantled Norton Commando Paul, I bought a few items for it and sold it on. There will be some money in it for the buyer too when he completes it, quite a lot in fact if he isn't silly with non essential work.

I have to tell you that ferret does not (really) do mobile any more, its not out of the question by any means, but he very much prefers and encourages the bikes to be brought to him, it makes much more sense materials wise and may even be cheaper and also better, for the punter. The journalistic column writing that he does in the monthlies has a lot to do with that.
I have spoken to him at length several times about Laverda triples, and my AJS single, and I believe he might even own a laverda by now (maybe)
