oil funnel

I use this funnel for years and yes, I've also had the experience of it buckling away when the oil level in the funnel adds weight. I always use a fun construction of tension bands between the 3c and a camping chair to hold it in place. In addition to the weight from the oil which has to be taken in account, also the lower fixation is important - it must not slip out of the filling hole at the bottom.

Well, I get along with it, at least it's orange ...
I use that one for filling the dragons mouth heater I have in the garage.

What material is the 3d print made from? If you need some cad changes I could give it a go
I used PLA, which seems to hold up fine. PETG would be an option, but I'm constantly running into some sort of trouble with my filament.

It works great as is, but a vent would be helpful to speed up the filling process.

File is here, if you want to play with it; https://www.printables.com/model/125288-skewed-funnel

On the drawing board here, euphemism for never will be built, purpose made threaded insert adapter ( engine case internal thread as per oil stick ), connected to closed feed pipe to handle bar support holder for exactly 3L of oil in container. the later open filler hole and perhaps cap. Pour oil into system and have a cup of tea, it will take a while. Could fabricate a low pressure system, then issues with pressurizing the crank case...solve a problem get a worse one... well done Piet, have sympathy for the scenarios you describe in past filling adventures... j

It's a thing we all do and some professionally, so why not improve a potentially messy issue, now who was cutting up that drink bottle a while ago? I use one of those flexy link metal funnels and it sits nicely into and against my lower SS Bevel fairing and passes into the engine nice and deep while draining. You would almost think it was made to do it. Not earth-shattering but it's better than an empty link to pass the time. Now let's all sit in a circle and meditate while chanting, no interest to some profound to others.

Oil funnels - a sad subject? No, no, no, gentlemen, I'll not hear of it! A fine funnel is surely a most beautiful thing. :)
Like Piet I wanted something self supporting at the filler hole. My effort along those lines...

It works a treat, so I promoted myself to Chief Funnelographist at our house.

Lovely but a little difficult to fit in your saddle bags when touring.
I always pack oil and a funnel when setting off for long trips.

Haggis, this made me seriously laugh out loud... If you'd design it similarely but with screw-on 90° bows/knees, one could even store it (almost) in the tank- or saddle bag...

Besides I love the use of material, I would add a venting tube maybe. would allow for quicker filling and less mess if designed for the job.

I like your use of Yorkshire fittings Paul H, but realy end feed are 80% cheaper, and 300% harder to use but still dead easy if you were trained like me and Toddy and you should not have used 90 degree CU12's but 45 degree CU21's and the 28x15 CU6 had better have a bit of 15 BS2879 table X in it or else. By the way the funnel thing is called a tundish by proper pipe men and you can buy them with a cranked outlet ready made in copper from specialists like Manor Building supplies, Frank Love or BES.

ps I might picture what I have used for 50 years in the shop and on the road.If I can be arsed and the camera is charged
