Hi all,

Any advice on getting new rubbers for the engine mounts? Frame an other stuff is getting sandblasted, so could easily press the current rubbers from the metal mount and do a refurbish.. but need new rubbers and possibly bushes afterwards..

Cheers,
Martin

they are pressed in, not vulcanized (except for the inner metal tube, wich I think is vulcanized in).

Andy Wagner used to have them, but I was told they are a bit on the soft side. Not bad innitially, but they could suffer from the engine vibrations quite much over time.

Just second hand "information" (more guess work maybe), people with experiance with these mounts may correct me please at any time.

The rubber bit is actually vulcanised into the mount housing.  Because it tends to seperate over time, the impression arises that it is simply pressed into the housing.

I have experimented with pressing different automotive suspension rubber mounts into the housings, all to no avail... the rubber needs its specific properties to be effective.

"Ralph at Motalia used to stock them, I don't know if he still does?
I think they were stainless to! "

Pierro asked me to buy for him two sets of these from Ralph a few years ago and when I told him where they were going he said that A very large pry bar would be needed to get the bolt holes to align when installing them, so I declined the purchase and a very low mileage set was obtained from Coxy.
