Happy birthday

Just glad your friend is up and running albeit with some broken bits - bikers are generally very fine people who are prepared to help one another - for that I think we are universally grateful

I've lusted after an MGS-01 ever since I first saw one. Missed out on one going for a bargain price in Singapore a few years ago.
I dunno whether my ageing bones could take too much of that riding posture nowadays. A couple of hours on the LM1 is enough to leave me feeling like a bloke-shaped piñata.

I can't say that I have gone touring on the MGS-01 ........ most I have done is about 30 laps at a time but it didn't knacker me too much. Not sure I would want to try endurance racing but I'm hoping to stretch her legs on a bit of highway this year. Probably 45 km max though as I don't want to stir up the Revenue Collecting Motorized Patrol.

I couldn’t afford a Daytona, really fancied one, when the Daytona wasn’t selling too well , turns out Guzzi built the Centauro based on a Daytona RS with different bodywork, subframe and milder cam- but they came fitted with the RS balanced crank and Carrillos, forged pistons from the race kit .
Chassis,WP forks, Brembo Goldline , Marchesini wheels, heli-cut box, all identical to a Daytona. I bought a silly low mileage one that is going to be my Dr John project.

Only Guzzi that I have ever wanted to own. Chap had one at Broadford when they celebrated Guzzi’s as the feature marque. God it was fast and what a horn sound.😀😀👍👍

Hi, I have my LM3 "Josefine" since 1988. Much fun to ride after some tuning and modifications. Meanwhile 135.000km on the clocks.
Ciao, Gert

The Centauro is quite a package. I'm not a fan of the styling but it doesn't bother me either. My only real complaint is the 5 speed box compared to the 6 speed in my V11. I am looking for a donor V11 to do an engine swap. The V11 motor is more suited to the 5 speed ....... everything a bit more ..... lazy. I have StainTune exhaust plus the Will Creedon chip as well and the difference is night and day. Smooth power delivery from 2,000 rpm up to 5,000 and then it is a real blast from there to 9,000 .......
Maybe I could make a chopper with it ......

I have heard that the Teo Lamers Museum is progressing and there was a crowd of people invited for a birthday party. He has 120 bikes there already and hopes to have 250 when it opens ...... hopefully in less than a year.
Another reason to visit Australia!

6 speed box allows for wider rear the if that’s a thing but isn’t a straight swap. My centauro has will Creedon chip , crossover balance box as well. I’m going to chain drive oil pump ( like MGS-01) because the original alloy gear set up is prone to fail catastrophically. Ex Raceco guy has offered any help I might need- he wants to 1225cc it - have to see..
it’ll never be an MGS-01 but hey -ho.

I talked to a fellow who did a switch between a V11 and V10 ....... he said it wasn't as bad as he thought. He said the main part you need to switch is the front sub frame and the rest is a lot of fiddling. Even the wiring worked out so now the V10 motor has the newer ecu ......... but then he had to get a Jeffries ecu to sort that out.
Is your friend Amadeo? He knows the Raceco 1225 very, very well. The full raceco bike gives the MGS-01 a good run for the money!

Jim

Amadeo isn’t involved with bikes now( he used to come to use our dyno) Bruce Rawsthorn is the Guzzi Daytona man, he’s a mate of a mate. I was trying to get the bike into the pushrod class in landspeed but the tappets aren’t long enough to be classed as a pushrod so it goes in OHC class even though it’s mid cam , Damn and blast.
I had visions of smoking Harleys with my Guzz.

A BMW Boxer rider was having a beer with a Guzzi rider.

BM rider “A Guzzi reminds me of a boxer motor with an erection”
Guzzi rider “Huh, proves my point”
BM rider “What’s that”
Guzzi rider “Boxers really are limp dicks”

How is your comprehension of the German language?

There was an upmarket bike shop in William St Sydney for a while years ago and they had one in the window, I had to stop a stare. In amongst' the Bimotas and MVs it was hands down the star. They build THAT and compared to most other modern Guzis, I just don't understand

Ha ha, that's funny then.
Audi, BMW, VW, Piet, Lothar, Jo and beir is about the extent of my knowledge.
Oh, and the difference between a night-club and dance-club 🥵 (long story)
night clubs are the cause of many a long story in europe, my first wife slapped me when I said we should go to a night club together, i had no idea what the hell for , until I found out what a night club up here meant. Just a simple kiwi boy gettin in trouble
