Just arrived back home in Bungendore, the bike ran perfectly all weekend. After leaving the Royal this morning I went to Orange to check out my old school, having left some 47 years ago. Well there are now about four times as many buildings, pools, ovals etc, all locked up behind huge steel gates, so I couldn't go in. Probably for the best as it all looked a bit high security and not at all welcoming, not unlike my old house in South Africa. There were no gates, or even a fence, when I was a young scholar. Given all the buildings I concluded that there must be a quid in educating today's best and brightest.

The road i took took to Orange was the Cargo Rd, without doubt one of the worst surfaces I have ever ridden. Shit roads do confirm the need for working suspension. Stopped for lunch at the top pub in Boorowra, an Irish joint run by a very hospitable Kiwi. The food was outstanding and the Guinness very tasty. I think it would make a great spot to overnight.

Anyway, great to see everyone, hope everyone got home without incident, and a big thank you to all who organised things.

Cheers

Great weekend, great roads, MOSTLY minimum bike issues, Finny Leak fail, great weather, my bike went the best it's ever done except for a couple more minor suspension tweaks, some odd battery charging on the way home see post, breakfast was a riot, don't you hate it when you laughing so hard you get a headache, hope Carlos photo comes out. The pub was great, good food and a comfy bed what more do you need. Even got a free dessert from the manager. Happy to go back anytime.

Guinness hmm dam shame didnt come with you was looking for it last night ....bugger love a good Guinness.
Well we had a rather good trip home today but poor Tom ( young Tom or skinny Tom as Wah Wah calls him ) had some rotten luck and lunched a rear tyre... anyways if anyone still is in doubt about going tubeless and having the type roll off the rim then reckon that Tom’s effort of limping 30K into Crookwell should put paid to that old wives tale.
So ready to dink him back to the big smoke but his mate from Neutral Bay came to the rescue and drove all the way there to pick him up......well done Stu. ( even if you did it in a Toyota on Anzac Day of all days )
So it ended up the three amigos who headed to Bundanoon for a coffee and wow they even had Cannoli‘s so what a great end to a top weekend even if I was in dam pain. But those magic pills Ulli gave me were great 👍
Then there were 2 of us... the mighty adventure bike of Marty’s performed admirably even if it meant he was not up front 😂

Some more from this morning seems not everything is as it seems which is a dam shame but would appear that someone who shall remain nameless but who wears a poof jacket and perhaps a shirt which may suggest to do one thing actually does the opposite hmm but we have the money shot

The two Toms don't seem to find the statements of the bloke in the middle very convincing though ...

I'm sorry to read about your mishap with the tire Tom - where'd the bolt came from ..?

Cheers
Jo

Thanks to our road captain for organising the trip. The roads were even better second time around. The Laggan road from Crookwell to Taralga was bloody fantastic, endless sweepers! Note to self: next time remember that tubeless tyre conversions are not self repairing or inflating, bring the kit! Great weekend, lots of fun with all (and gas).

Well another top weekend away even if it was cut a little short for me.
That last 30 kays into Crookwell is a bitch as far as Im concerned....

Luckily Vince had a can of fix a leak which I reckin got me the first 15 kays before the tire started to disintegrate, Thanks Vince, that was a massive help.

Oh and it wasnt just me keeping you awake Brett, Im pretty sure it was Steve that was leading me astray...
Lucky Stu was onto it and had the mighty Holux on its way to Crookwell before we'd had time to realise just how long it was going to take if I went back to blacktown on the back of the silver jota  :(

Here are a few pics

Most of that tyre damage was done riding it flat the 30k into the next town after Tom tried the Finnyleak and that failed, and as Steve B said there goes the old story of tyres coming off the rim if you go tubeless and have a sudden deflation. Tom was crabbing sideways up the road on a dead flat tyre for maybe an hour at mostly 60kph,bet it felt longer and the tyre stayed well on the rim, it looked bloody horrible from my position behind him. Its a bit academic, even tubeless plugs probably wouldn't have helped considering the size of the bolt that caused it.
