It seemed for most of our trip to SRC at Paul Ricard somebody was determined to prevent us for getting there or back. It started with the cancelled flight from the IOM, then the delayed departure from Newhaven, the detours through central Paris, the breakdown, then the shenanigans trying to get home afterwards. However, there were some brighter moments among the many moments of despondency, not least the honest appraisal of the situation by the garage owner, Fred in Mercurol, to the helpful hotel manager at the Ace Hotel in Valence. We certainly recommend the two businesses to any others traveling in that area. Also, we recommend 'Rent and drop' for one way van hire if you get stuck like we did, or otherwise, France Cars, also for van hire.
Hiring the van from France Car, in Valence was one of the highlights of the trip (well at least for me) as the very pretty receptionist seemed to take a liking to me on the several trips I made to the depot; so much so that on the later visits she was wearing low cut, very short dresses and high heels..;)
So I am old enough to be her father, but it doesn't do the ego any harm once in awhile to think you still have what it takes to pull a pretty girl....

It was the Knights Templar, supported by the bros Coch who, on orders from above, were contracted to ensure that a Breganze demon did not win the race. And as anyone familiar with Tolkein knows, the power of light comes through from unexpected places to further the cause of good.

The van has a 59 plate on it. Nord.

That mention of the Ace Hotel Valence got me thinking, I stayed there a few years ago when I had all my worldly goods in the Locabox storage depot just round the corner and was waiting for the guy who was to take it to all Portugal. The hotel was very convenient and ChrisK would definitely like the TV channels but just like your trip nothing went as planned, and I even got charged a load of money by Locabox for a call out fee because the alarm went off while I was there. It was actually going off before I arrived but I was a convenient stooge to fleece I suppose. It was at that point I decided never to return.

And of course you and Alan have always had totally issue-free travels together 😜
True all of a loose plug cap once on Alans" bike going to the AGM and a dead Odyssey battery in France Breganze run 2014 sorted in the same village. Worst was with Adam near Lille coming back from the 70th with Covid when my plug cap fell apart and airlifted home , we all have stories, it"s just Andy B tells them better. ;)
I"m only jesting Andy, takes a lot of time and money and guts to go racing like you all have, and a good finish so hat`'s off to you all.

Don’t worry Shaun, we’ve already had the discussion between us as to who is the one that brings the worse bad luck with them.
