Barbecue thread (all welcome)

Quick and dirty pork off the bbq last night, went with braised rice, with celery, fresh white onion, garlic , lime leaves and chilli. The pork gets cut as thin as, and then drenched in lime, soy and hoisin sauce . all in about 35 minutes work, and 45mins for the rice to cook in the oven

You lucky prick ….. I didn’t know you were on holidays in Malaysia!

Not sure if they are allowed to eat pork in Malaysia? I’m not so in the know about that country.

Mate, one of the best seafood destinations.

The north east of Malaysia is unreal.

I remember a huge table of people at a ‘restaurant’ that was over the seashore …. like a deck on stilts in the water.

Best ever seafood, and grog…. I didn’t know there was so much grog in one restaurant.

Great service, I think I proposed to a particular waitress ….. a couple of times! Which would have been bigofme.

I have proposed to so many people in my life, even my girlfriends mother at her brothers 21st! My girlfriends Dad said he would give his wife away at the altar and even promised a substantial dowry If I took her off his hands, that was after we both got in trouble for falling through the garage door, as we innocently and soberly , not to mention responsibly walked from the yard glass drinking competition in the barn… so Chris, I totally understand how your waitress scenario Could happen

Whilst tinkering in my shed yesterday 😊 on my Norton, I was bbq img these beef short ribs. I started them a bit late in the day , they were in for 10 hours, with a 2100 dinner time set. They tasted great and were tender , but they really needed another 3 hours to become drop off the bone. Next time !

Really quick Asian inspired? Too hipster? Better Asian style , bbq pork tonight. Not long enough to marinate properly. So quick marinade of black bean garlic, Japanese soy, hoisin sauce, fresh garlic, green chilli, red chilli , fresh ginger, lime juice and Mirin. Slow bbq then rather than basting with the left over marinade, I cooked the left over marinade, then sliced the pork into it. Served on rice steamed with lemon grass and lime leaves. Not bad for a quick dinner. The leftovers are already rolled in pita bread to be grilled in the sandwich maker at work for lunch tomorrow. If the kids don’t cane it in the middle of the night.

Furk… spam and pouch-rice… I think your standards have dropped a bit mate!
Or is it the influence of truck-stops 🤔
The latter, trying to get a decent meal is pretty hard. It’s been suggested that I stop in a restaurant in towns I go through. Parking this truck in a township is a little hard. In fact, some towns a smaller than the truck!

1kg of chicken wings from Aldi. Marinated in Buffalo style sauce. I add extra chilli for me it's not hot enough. 1/2 hour simmering in a covered tray on the barbecue bloody fantastic.
