I’ve been nosing around the net looking for a clean Montjuic or Formula 500. Are they just rare as hens teeth in the States? I’d hate to have to go through the hassle of importing one, but maybe that is what is necessary. Anyone with one for sale please message me. Thanks. Ben

England for Montys . Europe for F500 .... there have been 3 Montys max Gbp 10,500 sold since beginning of last year and one F500 and its price was somwhere between Gbp 13,000-14,500 and this was a surprise find in UK.....but undisclosed exact final price . Many were higher list price but all came down. Best of luck

If you find a bike do a thorough check on its history. There’s an awful lot of ‘replicas’ on the market that started out life as a bog standard Alpino or 350. I guess it‘s up to you if that’s an issue or not as some of these bikes are probably as good as the factory built F500/Monty.
I know of a series one Formula 500 that was for sale in the states (previously owned by Mike Waugh of Montydons and for a time registered in the IOM) but it has had a replacement engine fitted - probably chucked a rod at some point). If you search Formula 500 it often comes up in the pictures. It is easily spotted as it is has none standard orange wheels.

Prices of F500 are below € 10 000 at the moment, they were near € 20 000 4 or 5 years back.
Don't forget that importing into the States implies not only shipping costs, but customs duties.

There could also be a serious problem (in the USA) with type aproval, Monty exhausts anyone?????

All significant concerns. I’ve been through it twice. Once with an R100S coming in from Belgium and more recently driving a V7 Sport in from Toronto. Both turned out well. More of a paper shuffle than anything else. The real issue is making sure that the bike’s condition and completeness are as expected. I appreciate all the great feedback.

Thanks everyone for the help. I connected with forum member Monty in Halifax NS. I drove 1500 miles round trip over the weekend and bought his ‘82 Montjuic and spare Zeta, all in parts. It was a long weekend of driving and some quick talking at the border, but everything is home. Stuart and Anne were very welcoming. The drive through Brunswick was gorgeous. This is a great forum. In the old days it would have taken months to find a bike like this. The whole process took about five days.
