RGS 1000 splitting cases

I'm having a little trouble splitting my cases on my RGS. It's not freely separating. I removed the QTY:9 6mm and the QTY:12 8mm nuts. I left the starter, flywheel, and clutch drive on as I am under the impression that the bottom should just lift off. Any thoughts on anything I might be missing or neglecting? Maybe I'm not using enough force? Thoughts anyone?

that stud under the starter regularly is infested with rust and can give you further problems even when the nut/washer is off, a good way to free it is to atack it with an arc welder, earth the cases, and then dab the electrode holder onto the stud to give it a cooking, that usually releases it, on reassembly, use a new plated stud (stainless no good here) and slaver it with copper slip, the next time the motor is opened it will be pure pleasure!
