Have used these guys before and again yesterday.
A comprehensive range of motorcycle oils, decent TDS technical information and claim to only use virgin oils, not recycled.

I like that they tell you the additives In each oils as I was looking for zddp in a suitable V twin oil without the additives that harm yellow metals.

£90 buys you 20 litres

Rob, I’ve been using their oils for years. 10/40 mineral in my 81 Morini 500, 10/40 fully synthetic in my 94 Ducati 900 Supersport and 20/50 mineral in my Jarama. Also used their straight 40 & 50 in my Velocette Venom. Used their gearbox oil, fork oil and brake fluid as well. So yes I like them. Good price and free post. You can also ring them for advice.
Steve.

I use their 15/50 fully synthetic, 20/50 semi & fully synthetic two stroke- all good . The company has very close links with Shell, so I imagine it’s very much a similar blend, some of the names are old Shell names - coincidence? The two stroke oil hardly smokes and hardly smells, inside of the exhaust is very clean and dry so must be clean burning.

I've been using Morris's oils for many years, but am now using Smith & Allen 10/40 semi-synthetic. 20 litres for £69.99 including delivery. They also do fork oils.

I used Esso Extra 20W / 50 for years , and 130,000 miles ......... then Shell 10W / 40 for the remaining 100,000 miles , after the Esso disappeared from the shelves .

Only problems I ever had were bent valves .........

Mind you , I also used to fill the Mirage up with three star petrol as well ......... It seemed just as happy on two star , but I didn`t want to push my luck .........

I have known many engine failures, both petrol and diesel, some of them very large items and some of them equaly very small. This includes cars bikes trucks, tractors lorries and aeroplanes, a lot of these failures came to me to be put right some by myself at home, others in conjunction with better learned people and done in workshops away from home, this includes RR Merlin (27 litres V12) RRC6 (12ish litres) Hercules DFXE (14litreish straight six diesel) right down to 4 hp Briggs and Stratton or Stihl engines of 80cc and less, I have never seen an engine failure due to the"wrong oil" too little oil, too much oil, not enough oil circulation or no oil circulation, metal fatigue extreme overheating or "snatch loads" but never the "wrong oil"
but we all make our own choices and felling "comfortable" with what is lubricating your engine is all part of the riding experiance, I admit to be a tight arse and when gallons of the stuff are dropped on your door step in recognition of something or other, or just because they can means its very tempting to use 1930's developed oil. Cureently TOG is running on cheapo Silkolene bought at huge discount at the very end of a local moto traders operation before the business was bought out and closed down. Seems alright to me and (wa Hey) its 20/50!

With oil changes at every 1500 miles , I always was of the opinion that whichever brand you chose , it wouldn`t be in there long enough for any additives or ingredients to have any long term effect anyway ........ just as the engine is starting to decide whether or not it likes this stuff it`s been given , then wallop .......... a new lot goes in ...............

I always stuck with big brand suppliers ....... mineral based oil for older engines was what I went for , with as few additives as possible ( hopefully ) ......

The likes of Esso or Shell should have got the hang of a;ll this basic stuff by now ........

Having said that , I`m now going to contradict myself by saying that Richard Slater reckoned Castrol GTX was a big no -no ......... but I never used that anyhow , and a brief dalliance with Texaco Havolene 15W / 40 left a black slimey coating on the Mirage`s internal organs ...... so that was avoided as well .

All this relates to lubing the Laverda from the `seventies through to the `noughties , plus a little bit beyond ........ so is past history now ...... .........

If I still had the triple today , then I would be going for Silkolene motorcycle specific 10W / 40 semi , I guess ......... that`s what my local motorcycle shop has in stock .........

If that`s ok for 8000 miles in a modern four ....... ( although I feel by 4 -5000 miles at 10,000 rpm , it`s probably had enough ..... ) ........ then it should be ok for 1500 miles in a slow revving Laverda ........

I reckon that Castrol GTX had something to do with the big end going on my first bike.
But it was a Honda and that taught me how to pull an engine apart. Stay positive.
Rebuilding it was another story.

My last oil purchase, Mineral Penrite MC4 20w50, was a bit of a shock at $80 for 4 litres from the local Repco. Either my memory has gone, or that's a good $20 more than I expected.

My last purchase, on Sept '22:
30 litres of Valvoline VR1 Racing 20w-50 Refined Mineral Engine Oil @ £5.25 per litre.
Delivered free by Opie Oils. I'm just over half way through it.

I used Duckhams 20/50 green oil until it became unavailable here. I had no clutch sticking problems until I stopped using it.
I used Duckhams, too, from its first oil change at 500 miles. Bought 60 litres when they stopped making it. When that ran out, I switched to VR-1 on Alan (a14rgs)'s recommendation.
I've never had sticking clutch problems.

Bought this a 3 or 4 years ago in Kendal on me way back from Basketville when the Jota was burning oil. Still available but is it the same stuff? It’s certainly green. 👍
