Motorcycle Transport from Italy to UK

what bike is it and can it be riden back?
flying down and riding back sounds fun but have never done that. I do (however) frequently go and collect bikes from all over the continent for friends and relatives, went down to SW France in January to repatriate a Jota stranded for ten years on behalf of Malcolm Cox, the third bike I have collected for him in recent times, last month I collected two Honda Africa twins from France and Germany for my son, both now sold, so I am no starnger to this, tell me more, what is the bike, Italian reg? UK reg? (makes a difference) timescale, and wher does it need to end up. I am away for three nights starting Tuesday, so migt be slow to respond

Hi Clem, it's a Honda CBX 6 cylinder that I've owned for 30+ years, I had it in the UK then moved to Switzerland and then to Italy, re-registering the bike in the different countries. Now I want it back in the UK. I had to register it in my wifes name in Italy (I know, I know...) so will change it back to my name when registering it in the UK. It's stood for 4 years so whilst the carbs etc.. were clean and the engine in good nick back then I'd rather get it trucked back to the UK rather than ride it. Timescale is flexible, it's at a friends house and is safe there until convenient. Final delievery address to be confirmed. What do you have in mind?

Remember that bloody Brexit might cause issues if your shipper of choice isn't fully au fait with paperwork requirements. I've not encountered a problem with my own bikes in a van but others have.

If you still have the UK reg document or can get it back in your name (depends if it was declared exported or not and even if yes, DVLA will likely reissue you the old number) then Brexit wont cause you a problem, (just fill in a V65 and pay online) it likely as not will not cause any grief anyway. My son is buying dirt bikes on the continent, France Belgium, Holland, Germany, two at a time, so is "about" the next trip will be three dirtbikes so a trailer will go as well, plenty of extra space for a bike, the ferries pull trousers down for the trailer and a bit of extra fuel as well plus a diversion to Turin. It could work out in your favour get the quotes and talk to me before you commit. Chas Mortimer (himself) has retired, the business is sold and continues, but its just not up to the same high standards of before, but still woks OK (ish).
