New or used VHB30 carbs

Finally got my 1971 750sf on the road , only to find that it won`t tick over and runs badly at slow speeds. On close inspection i found that the carb bodies and slides are so badly worn that the slides almost rattle around.
So i`m looking for either a good set of VHB30 carbs (not likely) or a recommendation for a suitable replacement.
Thanks.

Those slides rarely wear.
Good second hand carbs are plentiful
Slides at least until recently were available new from Eurocarb.

Have a look around the Guzzi world.

They rattle when new...

Rattly slides will not be the cause for poor idling, more likely to be clogged idle circuit passages. Been done to death here, the search function is your friend.

VHBs will run satisfactorily until the end of time once properly set up.

Do not be tempted to adapt Guzzi VHBs, these are generally fitted with accelerator pumps and are a pita to set up on Laverdas.

Surely not all Guzzi VHBs?

All I've come across... Remember, they were fitted to the large capacity 750-1000cc twins with heavy flywheels, the pumps were probably very necessary. The smaller V-twins all had the baby PHBs.

Can't you just ditch the pumps, Piet? Or are there other anomalies with the Guzzi jobbies?
The castings are slightly different for main jet and needle jet holders. I've tried disabling the pumps but the fuckers still don't carburate as nice as a dedicted Laverda VHB. Mine have been relegated to spares donors. Guzzi carbs are actually a good source for slides, same specs as the Lav ones! ;)
