Which way round does the exhaust balance pipe heat shield face? The semicircular plate mounted on the two lower engine mounting bolts.
Long bit to the front to protect the wire running down the back of the engine or long bit facing rearwards? Its not shown in the manual which is why im here?? Thanks

What heat shield?
If you mean the mount, I would think that the longer part faces backwards.

heat shield.

It is a mounting for the balance pipe but it's also a heat shield for the wire that runs down the back of the engine and connects to the terminal underneath. So it's a mounting and a heat shield.

A heat shield at the same temperature as the exhaust.
The neutral wire is often shielded by a steel sheath.
