Looking for a neat solution for removing RGS mirrors

I’m thinking of removing the mirrors and switching to bar-end mirrors from my RGS . I’ve got a small set fitted at the moment, and they give me a clear view behind me without any vibration.
Does anyone know of a neat solution for the rectangular hole left by the original mirrors if I remove them?

Garry, the mirrors and their brackets also double as fairing mounts. First consideration needs to be to appropriately attach the fairing and inner fairing "liner".

It will indeed be a challenge to join the inner and outer fairing securely and also neatly.

I met a Belgian RGS rider during a track day; I had a quick chat with him but didn’t pay attention to how he’d managed it

Perhaps, shape and polish a pair of alloy covers, drilled and tapped, to take the fairing mounting screws.
Maybe get 'LAVERDA' engraved into them, or go for a winglet design like these.

Could be a 3D printing challenge?

I can’t do 3D printing or anything like that, but would it be quite possible to make something like that using the original mirror bracket?
Possibly, but better to sell your existing mirrors, complete, and use the money to fund a 3D printed set of blanking plates.
I'm pretty sure there are a few RGS Owners who be happy to buy yours.

Don’t think anyone’s particularly keen on my mirrors, as they’re imitations. I also made the brackets myself, based on a drawing by Andy here on the forum, and I’d like to keep them just in case I ever want to go back to the original look.

You can buy blanking plates, or could back in 2019. I ended up going back to fairing mounted mirrors, the bar-end ones made me too wide, especially when lane filtering.

I have the rectanglular RGS mirrors, but want to go back to using the California style mirrors. I bought some mirrors from eBay and have started making brackets, longer than the originals, hoping to see past my elbows better. I planned on making the brackets as long as the rubber boot would allow. Until I come up with rubber boot replacements though, the project is on hold.

Anyone tried vitaloni Sebring mirrors, as opposed to the California ones? Do they work ok? The JDM fender ones looked cool, but broke up, too much vibration.

I've also shied away from bar ends - I lane filter all the time getting thew fuk out of suburban Melbourne as quickly as poss so I can enjoy my bike
The fairing mounted ZZR mirrors are good enough, blurry as all get out at 100kph, but dead still at 140! Above that I'm a sitting duck for Mr Plod.

I’ve now been in touch with the rider, and Gijs van Dijk had made this for him. It’s more or less the same as what Alzero made.
I don’t have a milling machine to hand, so it’ll be old-fashioned filing.
First of all, I need to find a piece of aluminium.

I made mine with a bandsaw, belt and disc sanders and hand files.

Q, I drilled out my fairing-mounted mirrors and added rubber gromets to all mounting holes; I did the same to the fairing mounts as well. Mirrors became super clear, so now I can pick a Cop from a Taxi. I decided to improve my mirrors after being pulled over and the Cop saying didnt you see us? We were right behind you. All ok in the end; I explained why I had passed the imbasile erratic driving ahead of me, and the Cop went into finger-wag mode and let me go with a warning. I know it's picky, but I never liked bar-end mirrors; I found that instead of a slight eye movement, the bar ends required a bigger head swivel, time away from looking ahead to where you are going. Everybody here is an adult; pay your money and use the mirrors you choise too.

Prob with mine is the upper arm of the fairing bracket is just too flimsy and that's where the mirrors mount. I really like the position of them and I just have to wear the risk of Mr Fuzz sneaking up behind me when I'm cranking it. And the number of unmarked BMW, Audi, Merc, etc SUVs I've seen pulling drivers over lately, you just don't know who's the man and who isn't.

Seen a lot of pics of the famous unmarked blue BMW K bike on The Old Rd lately. The last report had him mingling among a large group of riders, trying very hard to blend in, despite obviously wearing his service Glock and Tazer.

My Nepoleon bar end easily pivots up above my hand when a slimmer profile is needed.
Fitted the Napoleon mirrors many years ago and then found that if I turned the mirrors up as per pic, I was able to see much more with a quick glance. Also made the bike narrower, plus they don't blur like the ones fitted to the fairing that was on the bike.

Cheers

Vitaloni Sebring mirrors as fitted to MHR, will they work on the jota fairing?
