Hi all,
Since last Wednesday I’m the owner of an original GT. Only 15.000km on the clock. First registration was in March 1974 in Italy. Bike was imported to Germany in 2002 and then sold to the third owner in 2022. If correct then I am the fourth.
As far as I know and can see it is original. Apart from the mirror I guess. The choke lever is now on the right hand side. And the blinkers are also not original. At least not since new. Electrical equipment all stock. From starter relais to spark plug caps with exception of the battery of course. Everything is still very clean. Engine block, paint, mudguards and seatcover(needs new filling). Even got a working steering lock with keys.
Engine is like new and drives great. It needs almost no work. Mostly rubbers need to change. Chain and sprockets looks original and are a bit worn so will be changed as well.
Still checking some things like fuels system to make sure it clean and taillights needs some soldering. Thats why it’s missing the taillight and plate holder.
I want to keep it as it is. My plan is to only upgrade the electrical system to electronic ignition and the spark plug caps. But the blinkers, I don’t know yet… not a big fan. Maybe in the future planning to install a set of panniers, rear rack and engine protection bars.
I knew about the GTF’s, and that they were replaced by the GTL. But not so long ago I found out about the last GTF’s so to speak. (The one like I have) With Lucas switches, SF1 brakes and round CEV taillight. Did some research on the forum and JLO register and there is a possibility mine is one of the last ones. Mine with no. 1556x. Maybe someone has a higher number, just curious! Also would like to know which year it was build. Maybe late 73 or early 74? Love to see more about GT’s on the forum. In my opinion an underrated and rare model.
