‘73 750 SF Auction

It's the most original SF1 I've seen advertised in a very very long time. It even has the original wiring straps for the switchgear! And are they original K81s?!! and an original CEV headlight!! Holy shize!

From what I can see to make it as factory as mine was when i bought it in 1974 (18 months old) it needs the exhaust system and the original dash support (which would have broken in the first 3,000 miles anyway!).

Buy it. Could go for big dollars if people know what they're looking at though. A beautiful example (in the words of an 'Antiques Roadshow' presenter 😎)
 
It's worth it. You don't find bikes in such excellent original condition very often. If people thought it was too pricey the bidding would never have gone that high. Market decides!!

An SF1 I rebuilt the motor on and helped fettle together that needed in my opinion about AUD$10,000 to bring it up to anything like original, sold for AUD$15,5000 at auction here about 4 years ago.

Another SF1 here in Melbourne that came out of a crate and had 4,500 miles on it was advertised many times for AUD$45,000. i reckon you've got yourself a bewdy, Ben. Congrats.
 
Assuming a new price of around £1275 in 1975, that’s approx £9500 in today’s money.
12,500 USD is approx £9800, so I reckon the price was about right.

It is over 50 years old though and very second hand.
Look at the price of fish and chips over the decades. Would you buy a portion of 1973 vintage at today's prices?

An old second hand vehicle selling for the same price it cost new seems like a hell of a lot of appreciation to me.
An asset is something you sit on, like a motorcycle although that moves around, though a lot don't.

You fail to understand basic supply and demand. Or you understand it, and don’t like it.
 
When it was new it was definitely a depreciating asset in its early years as you could still buy a new one and other models. Now you cant buy one new its a whole new ball game - is it not?
