The way she looks NOW !

1 of 200 SF0's shipped to Canada from the Breganzie Factory to specific European Motorcycle Dealers as a Parts Kit and had to be assembled - Where are the rest of them?

As I say, seen a few Laverda Triples pass through my Northern Ontario County but NEVER another Twin save for mine.

Slightly Modified for Cafe:

It's the same Bike and I'm the original owner save for Slims Motorcycle Sales (George Evans) Sudbury Ontario.

The history of my 70 SF0 is well documented on this forum but what about the rest of the 199 other Canadian crate part Breganzie 70 SF0's ?

Some Canadians must know the history of these 70 Breganzie Laverda SFO Parts Kits shipped dissembled in crates and what became of them ?

They were mostly registered as 73's in Canada due to Import regulations !

I liked to ride as a long distance Cafe Night Fighter - Weather be damn.

Not saying she wasn't immune to hydroplaning with too much water on the asphalt which made me STOP and wait it out after 4 AM until the sun came up and the rain subsided.

They sold a few where I worked back in those years (KC Cycle, Ottawa Canada). The earlier ones had Smith instruments and no turn signals. Later ones had the NDs with turn signals. Ignition key plugged into the top of the large black headlight shell. Love the look of those mufflers! (this one seems to be missing the cross-tube between the headers)

Tube is there between exhaust pipes.
"Silencers" are original type.

Paul - I should have said "I always loved the look of those silencers". My SF1 has the ones with the cone ends. I had asked Wolfgang if I could replace the complete exhaust with the one from the SF0, but he said it was a bit louder. I don't need to upset any more of my neighbours. Bought the bike with the 2-into-one megaphone, but it was definitely too loud.

They are louder if you have an under engine exhaust box. If that has been dispensed with, unwisely, they are probably less loud.

If you want LOUD - Pull the Baffles outta them 2 into 1 Slatter Brother pipes ;o)

Before you desecrate the 70 Breganzie SF0, ensure to change the main jets of them Open mouth Dellorto 30 VHB's from 25 to 32's ;o)

Before we go further I am no longer the 2nd owner of this machine - 1st was George Evans a European Motorcycle Dealer in Sudbury Ontario Canada proprietor of Slim's Motor Cycle Sales - I bought the Bike off his Mechanic "Alien" in Garson Ontario for $1600 after Slims Motorcycles went under in approx 1972. Slim was famous for his adaption of the of the Norton 750 Commando - Which we proudly labeled the Purple Fairy; however, some where painted Orange ;o)

Tony of Winnipeg Manitoba is the 3rd owner of my 70 Breganzie 750 SF0 Kit case, which I owned for over 45 years and took care of her. Tony presently owns the bike and has restored to near original.

Strong engine and a sail in the wind - Very capable of hitting 120+mph approaching 8000rpm in any gear.

The Breganzie 70 SF0 had the same Cylinder Head as the 750 SFC - The SF0 crank bearings where NOT needle Bearings like the SFC but rather ball bearing - Same tranny and the SF0 cam was different in respect it was designed for the street rather then a long duration SFC Cam designed for the track.

Basically the 70 Breganzie 750 SF0 and SFC where the same bike with different tuning. Personally I would NOT want to ride a 70 Breganzie SFC on the street considering cam profiles. Yes the SFC was faster considering tract scenarios but it did not have the torque that the SF0 offered for every day use.

The 70 Breganzie 750 SF0 was capable of approaching 8000rpm but the 70 Breganzie 750 SFC was capable of going over 8000rpm.

What is the SFC Cylinder Head Fin count - 13 ?

Hey! Do you remember a Colin Barnard who worked at KC Cycle? Great guy now living in BC.

My first SF had the Lucas switchgear.

Jim

Didn't you ask me about him sometime back? I do remember a Colin, but he was one of our customers looking for parts to rebuild an old (German? - not sure) motorcycle he had inherited, or something like that. I worked at KC from 1972 to '74. I was replaced by a guy named Stu Mather, and a second named Marc LaHaye. If Colin worked there, it would have been either before or after me. If you ever contact him, please ask him when he would have worked there, and say hi for me.
Joe

Hey Ron, tell us about how good they are at pulling wheelies downhill in second at 60mph…..

Like Ceaser said about death "Unexpected and Quick" - Yes my 750 SFO did that ONE time at around 7400 rpm when gearing down from 3rd into 2nd ;o)

Like I've been doing over 100+mph for the last 200 miles.

A station wagon, full of kids, in front of me was going down hill doing 60km when I came upon her on HWY 69 North in a dip just south of Sudbury approaching a mountainous rock cut before Whanaptae , bike loaded in 3rd shifting down from 100. I wanted to do at least 80 and hit the next corner at 100 mph - All Breganzies can do 80mph in 2nd then my front wheel was off the asphalt when I passed that wagon.

You should have seen the faces of them kids when I went by. Don't think I had a baffle in them Slatter 2 into1 pipes ;o)

HEY! MERRY XMas and Happy New Year for 2023 Laverdaphiles ;o)

Many years ago we were having breakfast at a Cafe at Mount Victoria on an Easter Friday heading to Mt Panorama Bathurst Easter Race Meet. While waiting I notice a Laverda Twin pass, then another then heaps of them. Maybe 15 or 20. These days you can count Laverda Twins that come on Club rides with us on one hand. There must be dozens sitting in sheds all over Oz. It's a shame, they make a lovely sound.

Vince I never saw another Breganzie 750 Twin for over 45 years except for mine - Saw a few Early Jota's go through - Eat my heart out. I happened to buy a Breganzie one year before the 73 JOTA appeared.

Don't get me wrong because I've been a Motorcyclists since I was kid fixing outboard motors on a dock keeping old Farmall's and Combines working; HEY ! I always had a motorized 2 wheeler hidden , perhaps a Suzuiki GWX 1100 Gexter - I acquired a reputation ;o(

One thing about my Breaganzie that differs her any other motorcycle I owned is that 'SHE" hipmotizing, demands attention and if you don't give her what she wants. SHE will KILL you.

You really have be on top of your riding capabilities if you want to ride a Breganzie.

Man what Motorcycle and must say I was fortunate to have owned and rode her for over 45 years.

The Breganzie 70 SFO may NOT be the perfect Motorcycle but NO DOUBT she's fast enough to win races if you have the commitment to do it ;o)
