1000 SFC White faced Veglia oil temp gauge

Hello all. Looking for the Veglia oil temp gauge in white.

I bought one off Wolfgang a few years ago but if your expectinga white face you might be disappointed. When I enquired about the he did state that the faces had gone a very light shade of beige, so I just asked him to send me the best one that he had.

They all turn beige over time. it is the damping oil I think that leaves it's place and soaks into the white face, turning it beige...

I think young Lothar that you are correct. Maybe that’s why the changed to the black faced gauge on the later bikes.

Just for info: I don’t want to change due to discolouration. The one I have is black, and revs and speedo are white.

That's how they were delivered at some point in time, most probably due to the white ones turning beige over time.

That’s correct for the first ones laverda replaced the smiths gauges but not the temp gauge

My SFC 2915 has a black one and the 2985 a white…..

Who knows what was replaced over the time and what not...

pic below is front: my 1000 SFC with black oil gauge (#2934), center the #0001 preproduction bike with a white gauge and machine in the rear is a #3367, a black 1000 SFC Classic with wire wheels and - a white one...:

I do have a ex-white-now-beige one brand new. I could als Max Mahlmeister who restores Laverda clocks if he can make a new white face and fit it.

Thanks, that sounds very interesting. I have a friend that probably also would be interested in a restoration of his beige gauge

With a different sensor (or adding some resistors accordingly), you could also use the one from a 668 Zane potentially... ;-) I have one on my Jota but haven't managed to get it to show the right temperature yet. Pretty sure, for an experienced electrician, that wouldn't be a big issue...

I might point to the obvious, but have you checked the cabeling and connection to the temperatur sensor isn't corrodet, unplugged or broken?

Have you ridden it hard in warm weather, or been caught in stop/start rush-hour traffic?
Otherwise it’ll barely move.

Non working SFC1000 oil temp gauge, after years of not working I finally got around to having a proper look, the problem was the resistor in the purple wire just under the clocks,
Re soldered the resistor and it works again,
You’ll have to dig it out of the plastic sleeve though,
