120 clutch cover

My current hydraulic 120 clutch cover is not holding the fluid and not sure if it can be repaired.
So looking to buy a good second hand one.
Steve
sometime soon we need to machine a 120 billet cover for the last Scorch bike we are building
can easily machine another extra one for you

on 120's there is no shrunk in liner, so the external circular cracking does not occur, what exactly is the problem, pictures please!

have you had it apart, it surely will only need a new O ring and dust seal (both in stock here, Kent,UK) the O rings can be bought anywhere but the dust seal is in VERY short supply and you will get "NLA" from almost all sources. Pistons are available in stainless steel (never tried one) here in the UK from Motalia, I have always been suspiscious of stainless galling on the alloy, so never bought any, Redax in Aus has new pistons available with some tricky coating, PTFE was it? and gaskets are readilly available, there are two piston sizes 31mm and 30mm, so you need to strip first and then measure, I will discount the odd ball 35mm piston which may have only ever been used in the 1200 Anniversarry. so why can you not stop it leaking.?

The piston, o ring, dust seal, hydraulic hose and rebuilt the master cyclinder. All are new. The orginal and new piston have been coated ones.
From the attached picture the internals have been damaged by others. I had to top the fluid up over the years but is was very slow leak.
The only thing stopping it leaking was the rubber from the old hose breaking down and blocked the leak.

So now it is all clean the fluid just pours over night. 30mm piston.

Yes a new one would do the job as Will has lent me his spare and I need to find a replacemnt for mine.

Be a couple of weeks before we machine one, still machining the kit we need to run a 180 rear tyre
Will get on it soon

A bit of faffing about but it could be bored to take a 31mm piston.

Surprised there aren't spares available as it's not a part that fails often nor typically gets damaged in a tip-over. That, and RGS's are comparatively plentiful and not worth as much as "Jotas" so a few crashed/neglected ones will have been parted out. It's a bizarre long-shot but give Victorian MC Wreckers a call, I recall they parted one out many years ago.
Also, have you tried the guy in WA who bought all of Eades stock? Sprocket cover might be the sort of weird part that might have been kept as stock by Eades but not sold readily.

Hi Steve, i have one nice piece for you...SOLD euro. IMG_4493.JPGShipping is no problem. Kind regards Ralf

Eric's Laverda Spares, has disappeared, sold him an ignition system maybe 7 years ago but now does not reply to emails or phone

"A bit of faffing about but it could be bored to take a 31mm piston." the damage looks too deep to me Steve, best route (maybe aready sorted) is to get a used one in good condition, but for me I would bore it out, (and through) make a 30mm sleeve and shrink it in, BUT the hose connection will then need modifying to prevent the circular crack that happens on 180's, so cut off the bleed nipple arangement, weld up the hole, and fit the hose direct to the cylinder through the front. pic shows a 180 but you will get the general idea.

Rob in Walpole may have some info on him. I bought a pair of SF cam flanges from him about 2-3 years ago.
Met him once at the Collie circuit back in 2008 when I had the SFC up there. Honed into me being the only Laverda there. Gave me his card and I've never seen or heard of him since. A couple of Perth mates have brought bits and pieces from him but I'm led to believe he wasn't easy to deal with and wanted too much for his parts. I'm pretty sure he paid way too much for Eades cache of parts after a conversation with Wolfgang when I met him in Sydney.

I think it must have been someone else I bought from. Sounds like Eric will have those parts hanging around forever - and when noone rides Lavs any more he'll be able to use the cache as ballast in a barge somewhere.

I reverently disagree my friend. It doesn't seem like there's any damage there that wouldn't clean up with half a mm let alone 1.

Regarding the cover requiring replacement, I wouldn't jump too quickly. There's some minor damage there, but the bore itself has almost nothing to do with keeping the fluid in - it only keeps the piston in alignment. Sealing is done by two surfaces in the groove (which we can't see other than they're dirty) and the outer diameter of the piston (which op said is new).
I'd get in there with a dental mirror and fine scotchbrite and polish till it's perfect - especially the flat face on the nearside facing the fluid cavity.
