120 Jota rough running from cold

My 120 only starts on full choke when cold, which is normal but some times only runs on 2 cylinders. when it warms up its very lumpy. I can open the throttle and it revs freely, but if I hold the throttle steady at say 3-4000 rpm it will drop back suddenly to tick over. I've checked the pet flow seems plenty. The plugs seem new B9ES but very sooty and black, dont know if its carbs or electrics. When its been on a short run it performs reasonably for an old bike. But its not doing the basics properly. 20 years of fuel injected triples has taken the edge off my carb knowledge etc. Need some advice or its going into Swansea North dock.

You've already been told that B9ES is too cold. New B8ES plugs are always a quick first fix to try before getting too far into problem solving. Laverda triples don't respond well to being started and then not ridden off, particularly with standard ignition and the concomitant risk of cold fouling.

Unless you intend riding flat out on a motorway all the time, use B8s.
It's called plug fouling.
I noticed on my bikes that they need less choke than before and you should back it off quickly.
Changing plugs on a triple is a pain.

OK i'll swap the plugs, only a min. to whip the tank off. but it ran well tonight. i'll take it to work tomoz..
