1200 30th Anniversary

A friend of mine is selling his rare Laverda 1200 30th Anniversary which was produced at 200 copies from serial number 2200 to 2399 in 1979.

He is ok to suggest a special price for such a rare bike if the new owner is a Laverda enthusiast who will take care of it.

Here are the details:
- The bike has had only 2 owners
- The serial number is #2355
- The mileage is 59600 km.
- The engine had been rebuilt entirely as, like you know, this batch had the wrong crankshaft bearings and other culprits. All invoices available.
- The bike has a non original Laverda 1200 TS fairing but the original fairing (with its blinkers) is supplied with the bike.
- Two seats are supplied with the bike, the original one and a "comfort" one.
- The bike has been maintained by a professional Italian bike specialist, all invoices available.
- The front brake discs and the tires are new

Hi Marty, yes, included some special invoice to reduce the import duties. He is also a US citizen (living in France), don't know if this can help or not the import process to some countries.
 
It is certainly a tidy looking bike JLO but as you are probably aware the 30 anni bikes have been one of the least desirable Lavs in the UK, and has often been the object of many an insult, so I will be surprised if it has a British buyer.
 
That fairing is very similar to the TT Montegi fairing I fitted to my 3c years ago. Mine didn't have blinkers like that though, mine had 80mm tubes in the fibreglass on either side of the headlight that accommodated the std blinkers. There should be some info here if you search TT Montegi, I think there is some link to an old-time Queensland Laverda dealer but I don't know if they originated with him. Hand Made Fiberglass in Sydney has the moulds if you want one. Great weather protection but as said pretty ugly. It seems all the old posts were made by me.

Some bloke in Holbrook (NSW Australia) is offering to make that TT Montegi full fairing for Laverdas on ebay. His ebay listing only shows photos of the mould rather than the fairing itself. I don't reckon he'd sell many. Does anybody know him?

Sorry JLO. This is a bit of a diversion from your original post about your 1200 for sale. Good luck with the sale.
 
The biggest issue I had fitting mine was trying to mark the position to drill the lower mounting holes. It was really tight, and you couldn't get a hand in behind and get at the mount. I wanted my fairing higher so it didn't need really low handlebars to fit it so I cut 100mm out of the lower section and added extra height at the fairing bottom. Welding the major upper mount to the frame inst so easy either. The lower section also needs to go on and off under the front wheel, that's a giant pain in the arse. It's a hell of a lot of work mounting them. It reflects a lot of engine noise back to the rider. I really liked the Cico fairings, it's just a shame these are not as pretty as them. I gave up in the end swapping it to a SS Bevel fairing, heaps simpler. These days with such strict speed restrictions it's hardly worth the effort.

I reckon you needed to make a horizontal joint in the fairing, so the lower half could be removeable separately. That's how the fairing in my Ducati MHR works. Just un-bolt the bottom section and pull it out sideways under the bike. Dead easy.
 
It had that already, I added Dzus fixings to make it even easier but it still wouldn't come out sideways. They're narrow in the middle so the shape was the issue. Not much clearance under my bike with its big bore headers and collector. I found some really nice red ones to match the paint on the fairing.
