Not sure if this is "technical", but could not find a better place, or relevant information.

My 1981 1200 is finally roadworthy. It will have to undergo paint, but new fuel taps have made her leak-free, and I am planning to ride a bit before winter sets in.

My rear cowl is standard, but my question is: How do the blinker cables go from under the cowl to the blinker "holders" in the grabrail? I?ve just connected the cable through one of the cowl bolt holes, but it is extremely ugly.

Second question... the fiberglass part that goes under the cowl was completely destroyed and I "rebuilt" it. It looks like shite (although it can?t be seen), but the worst part, is that the bolt holes don?t line up. Anybody has one of these that are surplus to requirements? MP please.

Cheers!

Carlos

Thank you! Found Boba?s site. Quite amazing. He?s asking ?40 for the 1000/3c inner cowl plate. Does anybody know if the 1000/3c and the 1200 are the same part?

I?m still lost, however, on how do the blinker cables exit the cowl to the blinkers themselves.

You have a TS Mirage 1200. This has a completely different rear mudguard and tailpiece than earlier 1000 or 1200 models.
Of course you could convert your set up to the earlier style, and use some of Boba's lovely carbon fibre parts.

On bikes with steel rear mudguards the earth for the rear indicators is fixed to the mudguard, and the signal wires for each indicator exit the loom in the same area and head towards each indicator, if that makes sense.

Thanks Grant. My rear mudguard is fiberglass (I believe - not metal, anyway). The picture you just sent is perfect. So basically, I assume the cable to the blinker just comes out from the bottom of the cowl towards the blinker itself. There is no special "path".

Cheers.

Carlos

Correct. There may be a hole somewhere for the wires to pass through.
Just join the 2 earth wires from each indicator and run a wire to the first convenient metal fixing point.
