Can anyone shed his light on the range of engine numbers for the 180? mk2 engines? Are the 1200 and 1000 numbers separated ranges?

Series 2 x 1000 engines, 7237 to 8155 I believe is the last

Series 2 x 1200 engines, 3063 to ?  we have 3611 at home, is the latest one I know off so must be close to the end, latest one listed on JLO site is 3185

Are all 120o deg engines considered a Series 2? Engine number 8160 is a Jota 120 so the numbers appear to continue on form the last 180o that Red mentioned, and they go to about 8540 for the last Jota 120. But RGA/RGS models appear to start again from 1001. (all this from JLO's registry)

I don't know whether the re-start of numbers for RGS/RGA was because of a change in engine architecture, or whether it was because of the new RGS type frame.

Hey cam,

According to JLO the first Jota 120 was #8150, the last one #8550. However this seems to cross over with the last of the 180 series 2 mentioned by Red (#8155) - I suspect there may have been some cross pollination maybe?

My Jota 120 is 8408 with 8192 spare engine (8408 engine in pieces).

Simon, you are most likely correct on the numbers, last Series 2 was probably 8149

damn, we bought 8120 and 8129 back from Serbia with us, they are close to the last of the breed, everything went down hill after that  :D

But are 120 Jota crankcases/gearbox identical to an RGS set?
I thought the differences were all in the head. (cams, rev-counter drive, cam cover).

Funny, my series 2 has a right foot shift, but my 120 Jota had a left foot shift, just like my Corsa.
I'm just working on the series 2 today and saw the gear lever on the right side.

My Jota is 8155 and it has a second series engine with right side shift and ND generator. I have a customer 120 Jota in the shop at the moment and it has the RGS/RGA style engine with left side shifting and also the RGS style front sprocket/Hydraulic clutch cover. Not enough room for the earlier style hydraulic cover to work as the right lower engine bushing mount thingy is in the way. Engine and frame numbers match.

do you have the last Series 2 bike at 8155 then Tom ?

you are right, I just looked at the build photos of a few 120 Jota's, they have the RGS/RGA gearbox shafts and left hand gear lever
fantastic, gives us an extra race engine as we have 120 Jota 8467 that has an okay engine but frame has been totally Serbed
