Finally fulfilled a long standing wish for a pre-war tank shifter.  A 1928 Rovin with a 350cc JAP sv crossed my path and decided to stay.

Trawling the net yields nought, bar a sales brochure and tank decals... even the Tragatsch Motorcycle Encyclopedia only  spares a short comment for the marque.  Apparently, bikes were built near Paris 1925-31, with micro car production commencing post-WWII and lasting until 1961.

Anybody have any info concerning Rovin motorcycles?  Would greatly appreciate pics, other than the sparse ones on the www, or tech info.

You may well find some answers. A lot of knowledgeable people there.

Otherwise, you could write a letter to La Vie de la Moto, a bi monthly paper. https://www.lvm.fr/

There doesn't appear to be a Rovin club in France. There might be a club for French JAP engined machines?

Rovins granddaughters website shows interesting information, in French only for the moment.

Is it a EMR92?

Jeroen

Thanks for the links!

Jeroen, I can tell you the exact model tomorrow, after I pick it up.  At this point, all I know is it is a 1928, 350 sv JAP engine, touring model.  Nice bonus, an overhauled 350 ohv JAP engine is included in the sale!

So, is this in place of that Atlas you were meant to be looking out for, Piet ?  :D  (bolt)

Looks good fun, tho' !  JAP engine, too  (thumbup)

Good score. They look like a well put together usable bike.

There's a well known Vintage collector and general nutter lives across the road from me. Some years back he found a 350ohv JAP powered vintage bike and of course started to restore it. Big holdup - it needed a bigend. He happened to ask me in passing if I knew of any JAP spares and told of his frustration at being unable to source a bigend...
Well firstly, if it was me, it would be running on a non original substitute. I'm not that fussy.
Anyway, I asked him if he wanted a steel, aluminium or titanium rod.....And pointed out that the speedway JAP is based on the prewar 350 bottom end.

Last time I saw it, the engine was together and in the frame.
