1968 American Eagle

....Curious about your seat, .......
Did you change the fuel taps. Mine still had the taps with the clear reservoir ....

Yes, the Eagle came with the fuel taps with the clear reservoir. Unfortunately, that and the connections were missing.
Since the Paioli taps with clear reservoir have plastic parts, I changed to the Brev. Orlandi version.

Here are some pictures of the fuel tap and the seat.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder Paul, sounded alright in the videos.
I love it. Just pointing out that a machine more than half a century old is another thing altogether than a new car with a 3 year guarantee.

I still have a first type GT frame with metal shrouded forks, a ribbed rear wheel like the American Eagle, maybe a front wheel, tank and side panels and a matching numbers engine for sale. Nobody has manifested the least interest, but put a nice photo up somewhere with some nice bla-bla....

Well no one is going to beat a path to your door if you don't make some marketing effort Paul. Stick it on here and tell everyone how much you want and it will probably sell if the price is right. I have a sneaking suspicion that there are a lot more people viewing this site for purchasing opportunities than we know about.

I have already done so several times.
€2500 with tank and side panels, 2000 without.

Would seem that the wind has changed since up until tomorrow, nobody was interested in GTs but only SFs. Or badly knocked up orange SFC replicas..

How long re you going to be alive? Who cares after that?
There's an old Chinese saying "when events are getting you down, just sit on the river bank, you'll eventually see the corpses of your enemies float by". I'll live long enough for that, believe me.

Do you ride Laverdas?
A dud crank won't last the riding season of even the most arthritic old plodder.
The crank in the 3C I'm finishing wouldn't have done 2000km before letting go and yet the bike was ridden until it was stored. it was a friends bike at the time so it was a known quantity.
I wouldn't lash out well over £5000 only to have the thing go bang between home and the pub during the first summer of ownership. You don't have to rebuild it as new, but at least check and repair what's very wrong.

Be serious for a minute.

Ah well Shaun,, you like your bikes just so and I like mine a bit lived in.
Its funny Pat but you are wrong in many ways if you knew my bikes better , I like good chrome and paintwork and wiring for sure, I just don"t choose them with lots of engine work, false economy;)

Seemed expensive to me with the work to do.
I agree- $8k USD for a beat AE has to be a new high! That being said I have #1650 which is a bit of a project but cosmetically far nicer than this example so I'm thrilled with the sale price!
