1969 750 GT on Iconic Bike Auctions

that looks like a very nice bike, with quite a few bits that need changing, swapped back to original, but no fitted speedo? etc, many of the parts supplied loose, he doesnt mention an original exhaust amd those Marvings are known to be restrictive, he also states the crankcases have been changed, devalues the bike especially if they are unnumbered, even though obviously better, top money is for original.The VIN numbers looks a bit worrying and would need much closer examination. Is it 2285 as stated or is it 2235 which it looks like, its on JLO's registry if 2285 but not 2235 which is unlisted, lots of potential or fit the speedo (OK I can see the high tech electronic one) and ride as is (for now) straightening out later, but what the hell is that breather filter doing on the end of a hose that might come from the cambox top, not visible in all photos.

2235 is mine, located in Germany.

Looks like a ready-to-use bike with mostly tasteful concessions to make it a practical runner though with the potential for restoration to full early AE GT condition, will be interesting to see if it meets reserve.

For comparison of a "fully restored" GT sale, check this one, though I don't know if it really fetched the quoted sale price of 18,670 USD and it is a first generation GTF version - first series Laverda brakes

I've started a low bid and will see how it progresses. I see the filter dangling from the breather line and 195 lbs compression? The space between the front tire and fender appears large to me- possibly lower profile tire? I've also requested a ride by video. At least this seller has put some effort in the description, as opposed to the previous Laverda on Iconic that didn't reach reserve- it's now on their Buy It Now section for $8800.
 
Primary drive tensioner dome nut looks like it’s worn flat? Bent fin on barrel ( tyre levers?) . I looked at a 750 that had all wrong clocks/ levers etc must have been in a smash, powder coated frame & why would you paint a tank that looked like that inside?I would be wary of this one, it would have to be cheap. I would also think it would be post single engine gusset rib but I may be wrong, mines got two #2550
 
Yes, many of these state side sellers think they're sitting on a pot of gold just because it's a rare bike here. After it won't reach his reserve, it'll be posted on the Buy It Now section for some ridiculous amount, just like the last Laverda 750 that's been posted on Iconic for $8800. Without a ride by video, I consider this more of a "project" bike and should be described as such.
 
Looks like a very honest bike to me. Engine sounds healthy - some work required but nothing major that i can see (tank liner the main one). If that's your 'current offer' Teddy, dream on!!
 
Really? Judging from the above comments by others, a lack of a road test, and the current bid of only $2100 w/ one day to go, I'd say the only person dreaming is the seller- especially if he's expecting top dollar for it.
 
My post was in relation to a current bid of $600 - was that you? I'm not sure it's possible to buy any used Laverda on spec without actually inspecting and riding or having a direct association with the seller and/or knowledge of its history. There are far worse examples out there from what I can glean from the ad. Top dollar in the current market in the US? Don't think so. We agree on that.

Any successful auction requires at least two bidders & a reasonable amount of exposure. I don't think Iconic has great exposure.
