From what I heard pre Covid, the shipping cost was much cheaper, post covid it went through the roof. My Atlas cost me $4000oz one way from England to Sydney, including Insurance. Heard too many stories of stacked cargo containers falling overboard off ships. It could have been a bit cheaper, but I let the shippers do the lot, including the Government paperwork for classic import. So it only makes economic sense to import bikes that are unavailable in your local market, or for some emotional reason. I wanted an Atlas, and there were none for sale in Oz. My purchase worked out great for me; I got exactly what I wanted for a price that suited me. Even its unknown issues ended up huge fun to sort out in the long run, and I got lots of help from forum members for some really crazy out there mods that were applied, that were discovered and sorted out. Just a reminder, it ran like a Dog when I finally got it running, hardly any power under 4000rpm. What that ended up being was someone had used some kind of fabric waterproof tape over a 30mm hole in the airbox, and after years, that tape was breaking down, and bits were flaking off and getting sucked into the tiny idle jets sompletely blocking them. I pissed off that tape and blocked the hole, cleaned out the idle jets, and suddenly the bike ran strongly from idle to red line. Who knows how long it had been running like that?
