Don't know the seller, bike is a few hours away from me. Can see this one getting parted out as there is no title. Would be a shame. I can help with pick up and shipping to fellow forum members (but not for a few days after the auction ends). Not for me at this time as I have 2 now without titles I am working to obtain.

Laverda had no sales ethics whatsoever.

Absolutely no reason to part this bike out because it doesn't have a title, In New Jersey or where ever it was last registered a title search history can be done, if none comes up and you have a 'Bill of Sale' you can apply for a new title in Jersey or your state, even easier if you request vintage title. You just have to deal with the DMV which can be a challenge but much better than it used to be you can do it on line these days. Don't part it, got to keep them on the road.
 
Have to agree about NOT parting that bike out, Dave - even though I'm not in the States. It looks very tidy and original. I'm sure I could import that bike to Oz and get it registered no prob. A receipt for purchase is probably all it would need.

Gonna be interesting when I register the SFQ - cases were given to me (by a nice fellow called Dave Devenish - anyone in the Vic Club know of him?) and the frame came from Vic Wreckers about 40 years ago, bought by a friend/housemate who bent my orig SF1 frame slightly when his old HJ panel van with no handbrake rolled down the drive in gear and used my bike as a backstop against a tree. Very minor repair to get my SF1 frame sorted when it becomes the SFQd (SF-skewed?) version of my two bikes.

They look like 38 to me. All SF2 to Oz came with the tin plate instrument bracket and most were cracked within a couple of years so that mileage could well be genuine. Some SF2 to Europe had the alloy bracket apparently.
Criminal to part out a bike like that.
 
Vehicle titles were not required in Georgia (USA) and many other States until the 1980s. Most motorcycles sold in Georgia were licensed and insured with a "bill of sale" with the bike's serial number. Titles were considered unnecessary. You sold your bike with a new "bill of sale" and a signature on the state registration. This is what was recorded with the State when you got your license plate.

No big surprise a 1974 Laverda has no title. Easy to get a new title here in Georgia for a 70s bike that has not been stolen, with a current "bill of sale". I doubt New Jersey is as understanding. 
 
NJ has a 12 step process to obtain a title. With the two bikes I was working to get titles I gave up. 1st one I sent in they told me it was a boat. 2nd one cleared (sort of) but then wanted me to check with DMV offices in the surrounding 5 states. Then I could move on to step 2...

Is much easier to have it done out of state then transfer to NJ.
