MVs 350S (also known as the "Ipotesi") is a very nice, small cafe bike. I almost bought a 77 model a couple of years ago, to go with my Morini. Decision not to was mainly made on the basis there are NO parts available for the MV (but you can get must about anything still for the Morini). I equate the MV to a mini SFC (both parallel twins) and the Morini more to mini 750S Bevel Duc (both in line V-twins, though the Morini is a 72 degree V twin and the Duc is a "L" or 90 degree V Twin). Both the MV and the Morini are very nice choices in the small displacement Italian catagory.

Hi
The 3 1/2 are very sweet little bikes. My 76 350 is a strada and the 81 500 is actually a 350 with a 500 engine fitted, but in reality it is only better as far as torque is concerned not that much faster.

MV350, now there's a beautiful heap of crap if there ever was one.  Love the looks, but it seems EVERYTHING breaks on those, either in early round-case form or the later Ipotesi, a thinly disguised 350 Eletronica, engine-wise.

Got a pair of cranks in the workshop at present, the lubrication system must be the worst ever devised for a motorcycle engine!  Can't fault manufacturing accuracy, though...

Lots of broken bikes that can be pirated for spares, Spub!

Now, Piet, that is just abit harsh, don't you think? The Ipotesi was not over built like Laverda, but it had less vibration than the SF 2 I had and while it did not handle as well as the Morini, it was close, and it looked like a milliom bucks.....all in all you could do a lot worse...

If only I had the money right now.....

@Gerald: Nice one you have there, seems some "sporting" details have blended in :). Quite like the Lafranconis, I assume they sound as good as they are looking. Should try to get a pair of those for my Morini, too.
Lafranconi competizione 32mm header connection... absolute unobtainium... sought after by many Morini 3 1/2 riders but rarely to be found anywhere... :( even EvilBay

Dunno Spub.

Not over built, that's for sure.  More like "Hey Luigi, fucka dis bike shit, letsa go for lunch, huh?" And when they returned, Luigi finished the tech drawings with a bottle of red swishing around in his brain. :D

Of course it should vibrate less, far less mass flailing around to cause vibes!  And it still manages to eventually self-destruct.

Yes, it looks a million bucks.  A school mate had a 350 S eletronica, at the time I was hacking around on a Bantam :-[ :'(.  I was green with envy!

Stefan,

Had the Morini :'( :'( :'(
Sold in a weak moment!

and yes, the Lafranconis sounded just fantastic and made the engine breathe openly.

small guzzi (early V35) also has 32mm headers... worth a shot if you want to pay that kind of money

That's actually on the money in Australia but not much more. I've had two Morinis, still have the 1976 3 1/2 Sport. I sold my 500 Sei a couple of years ago for $5500. I don't know why he calls it either or because it's one or the other????

I can definitely vouch that they're bloody good fun. Particularly down anything with corners. Bit slow going up em.

Drikko, you need one to fang down Nebo with the Cos-man on his Pantah.
