1974 SF2 Neutral Switch

Motor was built by someone else, so I have not seen the selector drum. Been running around for years with no neutral light, but have a switch so figured I would fit it. I tested the switch off the bike and to complete the circuit the plunger needs to be pushed in. With neutral switch connected but not screwed in, when I depress the plunger the neutral light illuminates, which would suggest there needs to be a raised portion on selector drum to activate it. All the images I have seen show a hole, not a lump. What bloody obvious thing am I missing?

Not so good images. There's no hole, but a lump, that activates the switch.
You might have to adjust the sealing washer with an additional washer, so that
the switch doesn't obstruct switching.

There is (meant to be) a lump on the selector drum to actuate the switch. It is sort of like a giant staple. Adjustment of the switch via shimming with copper washers is required. It can be be a bit awkward due to the generous undercut at the base of the switch thread and the shape of the recess in the crankcase.
