1975 Laverda 1000 fuel petcock leaking.

I have a 1975 Laverda 1000. I have a fuel petcock leaking. Can the petcock be rebuilt or does it need to be relaced?

It can be repaired changing the rubber seals should do it.
Are your certain that it's the tap and not the seal to the tank?

Yes I'm sure. I pulled the fuel line off and worked the lever on the petcock to all three positions. Definately leaking out the male part of the petcock. The leak is so slow that the fuel is "surface tensioning"around the male part.

Tighten the nut that closes the tap to start with.

Timely. I've just disassembled and cleaned mine, they sat for 20 years and were pretty gunked up, but serviceable. They don't leak, but looking at the rubber 3-hole seal, they show wear and I'll replace them. I had a few other things I needed and asked Wolfgang and he says 'OK', $9 each, sealing washers $.80 ea.
