I have a 1975 Laverda 1000. I have a fuel petcock leaking. Can the petcock be rebuilt or does it need to be relaced?
It can be repaired changing the rubber seals should do it.I have a 1975 Laverda 1000. I have a fuel petcock leaking. Can the petcock be rebuilt or does it need to be relaced?
Yes I'm sure. I pulled the fuel line off and worked the lever on the petcock to all three positions. Definately leaking out the male part of the petcock. The leak is so slow that the fuel is "surface tensioning"around the male part.It can be repaired changing the rubber seals should do it.
Are your certain that it's the tap and not the seal to the tank?

Tighten the nut that closes the tap to start with.Yes I'm sure. I pulled the fuel line off and worked the lever on the petcock to all three positions. Definately leaking out the male part of the petcock. The leak is so slow that the fuel is "surface tensioning"around the male part.
