1980 Jota

Well back when I was over in the UK at my old mate Pats place in 2019 we conjured up a cunning plan well Pat did, convincing me it would be a great idea to drop into this blokes place that had heaps of Laverda's and parts for sale and buy them.
Its quite a long story but a great unforgettable adventure humping down the highway towards Barcelona in 40 degree temperatures.
So several months after that fateful visit I ended buying some bikes and heaps of parts, amongst the parts were the remnants of a 1980 Jota, there wasn't much to recognise but I can now show you all some pictures of what she is today.

That was a great little adventure Maurice and the end result is stunning. It was terrific ride down there and the Spanish bloke was a great guy.

How many early Jotas or 3cs were supplied with black forks? or was it just random assembly line supply.

Nice one Maurice,that BFN tour was very productive for both of us!

They started using black Cerianis on the silver Jotas, the early silver ones having polished fork legs. I think all the Jaramas had black forks. I don't know what the sequence was with Marzocchis.

Thanks pf1, I know that this gold 1978 jota came with black fork lowers from new and I had seen mention of some but not all having black in one of the laverda books.

There is a spread with two silver Jotas in Superbike magazine one has polished alloy the other has black.

My 78 came with polished alloy Mazzo's, why paint that beautiful alloy?

That’s a great question here’s a photo of an original ‘80 Jota that I prepared earlier the black and gold ‘79 dont got them either...
Good Job MT shame you wont be around at Easter as would have loved to drop in and check it out in the flesh..

In fact it was quite an exercise in viewing the parts, along with getting other parts from all over Europe to the one spot, pick up from BCN to the UK then shipped to Australia.
There were some members of the forum here involved in this exercise and the co ordination was quite involved I am very grateful to those friends Pat. David Piet and Brett and Wilfred.
Standby for another 3 bikes to be restored from this collection!!!!!!

Oh I do have the polished fork sliders to be fitted I just wanted to disturb the rivet counters from their beauty sleep!!!
