1981 Laverda Jota – anyone recognize these fairings?

Hi guys,


I recently got a 1981 Laverda 1000 Jota 180° and I’m trying to find out a bit more about it.

It’s a Dutch bike and it has some pretty unusual fairings/bodywork fitted. I have no idea where they came from, so I’m hoping someone here might recognize them. Could they be from another Laverda model, a race version, or an aftermarket kit?


I’d also love to find an owner’s manual, workshop manual, parts book, wiring diagrams, and any other information about the 1981 Jota.


If anyone recognizes the fairings or has any info about this particular bike, I’d really appreciate it! 👍
 
Companies in England who made fairings for Laverda included Sprint Manufacturing , who made the fairings for Three Cross`s RGA Jota .....

There was also a company called Crossbow who also sold aftermarket fairings and so on for Laverdas , Guzzis etc .........

Probably their equivalents existed over in Europe / Netherlands .......... or as Hamish says , could just be a unique one-off ...........

It appears to fit quite well , so that rules out Italy .........maybe it`s German ............ :) ............

Also seems a bit Cico-esque around the suspension shrouds , but the tailpiece looks overlarge ......... and I think Cico`s normally incorporated standard side panels ........ ( so probably not ..... although might be ....... ) .............

Was there also a company called Pantera , who made similar large touring fairings for Gold Wings , large Kawas , XS Elevens etc ?


Actually sorry chrisk , just answered my own question ..........

Windjammers were designed by Craig Vetter ( Triumph Hurricane ) and made in California ....... whilst Panteras were made in Bournemouth .........

Amazing what a few taps on a keyboard can reveal ............

I was thinking the same about the rear shocks being shrouded. That's unusual and typically Cicoish. The 2 distinct seat pads are also unusual. Its pretty complicated to tie the seat rear guard and both side covers all in one, incorporating the standard tail light as well. Having all that fit and line up implies it being made to fit from scratch and not adapted from some other twin shock bike.
