1983 Laverda RGS 1000 for sale in California

RGS with Executive "wings" on the fairing (good for long distance touring, look is not fully mine though). 3-1 is a factory race exhaust. Check if the jetting is done accordingly... Not sure it makes any performance difference on a standard RGS, but it sounds very nice. (almost like an old Porsche). Very good the original system is still there, they are rare... (which is the race 3-1, too!).

If the bike is in good shape, it is worth a check. Pics do not show everyting sometimes... look for oil-leaks. most of them are easy to fix, except if it's headgasket or the one below the cylinders...

Hi,

Good information. Much appreciated.

Statement of the obvious - I'm new to Laverdas. Any other information specific to this model is appreciated.

Thank you

I don’t know any of the history of this particular bike, but on the face of it, it looks like not a bad bike and at a reasonable price. They are considered to be one of the best bikes built by Laverda, good for sports touring, and not the worst thing on track either if you fancy riding it on a circuit.
I’ve owned quite a few and if it wasn’t for the fact they aren’t the lightest bike to push around i’d probably still have one now.

or you can get the SFC version with some unusual gear from the factory and some not from the Factory
Via Iconic Motor bikes

That is a very interesting front-end (also has single shock rear, which is not original, nor is the color of the frame and gear nor many other parts). Kind of anti-dive?!?

Dont know the bike, there are a few California members who may. Looks like a pretty clean bike with low miles, but as said by others and owner it probably needs some maintenance .....it can add up....brake rebuild, carb rebuild, chains, sprockets, valve shim, etc are . Especially if it's been sitting for a long while. These bikes really benefit from an aftermarket ignition, several available. Not many experienced Laverda mechanics in the US. However they are easy enough to work on for regular maintenance and repairs using this Forum and the manuals. They are pretty bullet proof and reliable. Great part service from Wolfgang in B.C. Canada. Besides the Executive Fairing extensions it looks like it has the higher Executive bars as well and aftermarket shocks. Both are good improvements.

Bike is in Indio Ca which is about 70 miles from me. Jota Dave on this forum lives in this area so maybe it's one of his bikes? I would be interested but already have a RGS.
