Some years back I replaced the clutch on my '83 RGS. The anti-rattle springs were in a bad way and the new discs were not drilled for them, so I left them out. Last year I finally tired of the rattle, so I got a pair of used fiber discs with holes and new springs from Wolfgang. That took care of the rattle (pretty much, still seems to be a bit of noise there?), but since then, if the bike sits for more than say a week or so there's the familiar and uncomfortable "bang" upon first shift into gear. Works perfectly after that. Is the culprit the used discs I put in? Or just luck of the draw and coincidental timing? Should I drill holes in the replacement discs I removed and swap out the used ones I got from Wolfgang? I went that route because I had no reference for the location of the spring holes, and the discs Wolfgang sent looked perfect.
