The fairings may be fugly, but overall this looks like an honest running bike :

Not quite the LeMans bikini fairing and that black plastic piece along the tank is odd, but the rest of the bike looks nice

As they say, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and "different strokes for different folks".

Think of it as an RGS without the silly fuel cap arrangement and flakey instruments.

I have an RGS and a modified RGA Jota with the Sprint twin-headlamp full enclosure fairing - the RGA goes just as well as the RGS, same everything except bodywork and instruments.

Battos Blue fuel-injected, much-modified Marval started life as an RGA. Add a sprint fairing, there a stunning bike.

Paul, tell us more! a CX 500 Custom on the bucket list of your collection portfolio? or similar nausea handsome Ducati Indiana and Morini Excalibur?
I have owned a number of CX500's and a CX650. They are all ugly, especially the Custom! However they were in reality very high performance for their day, comfortable, robust and reliable, beloved by London dispatch riders. I did many miles on my '78 CX500, some of which were as a dispatch rider, '87/8. I had the Custom version in '92/3, arguably it actually handled better! :o
