200 mm Bosch headlight, brand new.

Wow! Having their bike absolutely original is something obviously very important to some people! If I owned a triple that came with one of those I'd happily replace it with a std Bosch 7" H4 from a Volvo wrecker for about $20 and mount it in any 70's headlight shell ... and they are really good headlights too!!

But then, what does my avatar say? ;)

So ….. is it good business or just greed ….. discuss
what if it’s neither, those headlights are almost impossible to find especially new. The market is what it is, not many people are looking for those and almost none are for sale. The most basic laws in economics are the law of supply and the law of demand. Indeed, almost every economic event or phenomenon is the product of the interaction of these two laws.

If I would have an early triple and the only missing part would be the headlight, then I would happily pay for that NOS light.
It’s however your own father who always criticises the high prices being asked for bikes or parts which, I agree with you, are simply defined by supply and demand.

Yes but your old man is well known for his views on over priced bikes etc. He probably expected a bit of light hearted leg pulling from people who remember getting whole bikes for less than the price of that headlight.

Everyone is entitled to its own views on the market. I remember couple years back formula 500 at prices as high as 20K€ and now you find them between 5k€ and 8,5k€. Some people are slow to accommodate with prices rising but some are also avoiding seeing when the market slows down. My views on the Laverda market is that it’s going down and only a handful of very special bikes, like the SFC, are going to remain at high prices.

That depends on what side of the planet you live.............

Don't mind us, Ariel. There was no way in a fit of Sundays we were going to let your ol' man of all people get off scott free on this little transaction ... why, for 60 of those headlights you could buy a green frame :ROFLMAO:. And will the bike it's attached to become a museum piece because it's worth too much to ride and scrape and get filthy dirty?! There's a certain irony to Paul making the sale tis all.

Of course what you say makes perfect sense ...

i didn't know i as rich

Sixty of those headlights would buy a nice 750 SFC but not even a bare (bent) frame of a green frame.

its a fair price given all circumstances, they have changed hands at £1000 before now, I bought one at Monthlerry in 2000 for £35, it was new and it was loosely fitted to a 750 twin (wrong anyway) to get it I had to buy a Bosch headlight to make the used 750 look OK and part with a bit of cash the light and the cash adding to the £35, and sold it for £35 about a year later,to a friend buiding a drummer triple, the term should not be used for twins, a drummer is a triple.
