3C no idle

Well I am pleased to say my old early triple 1445 has started burning petrol again, spent some time today timing the sachse ignition just got to complete the alternator installation, but I am having trouble holding an idle in fact it wont unless I pull the choke on
All drillings are clear and pilot jets at 55 main at 120,  pulls well from just above idle but fades out if the throttle is back on the idle stop any ideas???

It's fucked.
I'll give you $100 for it. But you have to pay delivery...  :-*

Love is cheaper in the long run to rent. Just saying...

Does it have vacuum connections between carbs? Is the rubber perished?
Float heights ok?

Ok, $160.

One of the main drawbacks with the Sachse ignition is the way it can't be adjusted with the engine running. If you have checked all the carb related stuff and are still having problems then it could be that the ignition is not set correctly. If the ignition timing is out you're going to chasing your tail trying to make any meaningful adjustment on the carbs.

Maurice that early should have the early rubber tubes on the inlet manifolds, are they ok? sounds like it could be sucking air in .with the engine running spray a bit of WD40 or similar around the manifold area's and see if the idle alters if it does you have an air leak somewhere . Just a thought .

If it didn't do that I'd be concerned :D

All sorted the small idle circuit drillings in the front of the carb body were badly blocked just need a gently clean out with a 1mm drill bit thanks Vince and all.
Bike will idle down to 400rpm now magnificent!!!! :D

Good to hear, those tiny bits can be expensive.Needed to drill a jet in the Kehan on my Husky and a 0.75mm bit was $15,lucky the dramal chuck was small enough to hold it.BTW it was the leak jet, part of the bypass circuit for the accelerator pump.
