3C oh no, not again

Not really Vince, I've got a lot of parts sitting there for another 3C I bought which is waiting for frame repairs. I will use them for this bike. If anyone has the pre oil cooler cases for 1795 let me know or indeed any pre oil cooler cases if they are in the UK. It came with carbs, downpipes, some broken clocks etc and there are good original parts on it like the master cylinder and clutch lever. The tank is good but someone has filled the badge recesses and had it painted, can't see any damage looking in the tank with a camera. Loom is good by the looks of it. Forks aren't pitted.

Lovely fork top nuts as well.
It came with some Isambard Kingdom Brunel brand headlamp brackets as well, built to last out of steel plate and weighing a ton.

Hello.
Congratulations on your new Laverda 1000, what number does it have?, yes it will probably be a few days before it is ready to drive again, if it can be any consolation, my Jota year 1979 also looked like this when I sold it, but after 4 years it was back to original condition

It's 1795 but the engine is 3522 I think.

Hi PF1.

Thanks for the info, I have no, 1729, it is without an oil cooler, and with 2 veneers behind the cylinder, and the first cylinder head

Seeing a motorcycle, in that condition, almost makes me weep.
Knowing that, with a little care, it could've put in the miles, given the pleasure and still looked like mine does.
I've never understood how anyone can so badly abuse a fine piece of engineering!

Back to red again Hamish? Or an older photo? I'm sure it was green last time I saw it outside Turnham Green Station. Or was that one the older incarnation? Whichever colour it is now, it looks bloody gorgeous and I love that seat.

My son found a $300 '79 Honda ATC110 in pretty nice shape. I started to get interested in the little beasties and found this guy's channel. He uses Deox-C for rust, which I believe is similar to what you can make easily - citric-acid powder and sodium carbonate (washing soda) or sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) mix. which eats rust and is a lot more gentle on plating. The linke below is a great channel, very Zen for me to absorb his work. Don't bother with subtitles haha. I've been using that rust treatment on my recently acquired '74 3C.

I don't see a lot of build threads on this forum, I have done on other forums (Norton, Honda, Suzuki etc). If you do one that would be great. I'm thinking about it but the Laverda group is a more discerning crowd than I'm used to

My skinny, boney arse doesn't like any bike seat for very long Paul! So might as well have one that gives me aesthetic pleasure, even if it isn't the most ergonomic.
Silicone inserts, in seats, allow for far more comfortable long distance riding. Best use for them, and you don't feel like a tit with them in.😉
280+ miles on that seat, 520+ on the stock dualseat.
Definitely a recommended upgrade, when re-cover times come around.

That wreck of a seat is worth having, genuine early 3C seat, fibreglass base, aluminium trim is there, an Eldorado cover, some foam and a bit of glue and it will look like new. In the meantime I have another one I bought from Sicily a few years ago that I can use.
Longest distance I have done sitting on one of those seats was Stockholm to Hamburg in one hit.

Back in '91, after the Interclub Rally in Breganze, I rode home from Corvara in one hit.
826 miles in thirteen hours, including the Channel ferry fifteen hours door to door.
The final leg of 2,000 miles in six days. I could barely button my jeans for three days!

Ah well Chris, that's Ged's workshop, one of those bikes is the evil monster 3C once yellow with a red seat. Behind it is a bike I recognised as soon as I walked into the workshop. My mates Ducati 750 GT which he bought new when we were young. HEO 198N, I rode that bike a lot and despite the poorest build quality imaginable was a superb ride. He traded it in for one of the first Guzzi Le Mans at Sports Motorcycles in Manchester having gone there to buy a silver Jota. Being a short arse the new Guzzi was a godsend to him but unfortunately he was killed on it shortly afterwards.
So you can imagine my surprise when I saw the Ducati sitting there, first time I've seen it since way back then and it brought back a lot of great memories. I remember he couldn't give it away back then because they had such a bad reputation for crank failure but some guy has just paid a lot of money for it. I remember the trip to Manchester with him when he sold it. Great days in the 1970's.

Bought this beauty at the weekend. Pre oil cooler 1974 3C with a 1976 3CL motor fitted. Someone took the cams out 20 years ago and left it to rot.
The 3CL was the 70th one off the production line. Someone has to love it and that someone is me :)

Hi Patrick. Do you have the camshafts that were removed?
If not, I have a pair of A11 cams in excellent condition that I'd be happy to part with.
